Louise As you can see, I accept all types of comments on this blog. I think you would be very surprised to learn how much and how far I have actually travelled and what projects and charities I have helped with...
The point of this blog is not to criticise, it is only to inform people so they can make a decision based on actual facts and not on misleading or false statements, on whether they would like to undertake this type of project or not. While it's true that some of us are used to differing degrees of luxury, it doesn't change the fact that we need to be well informed, so we can decide what is best and what suits us when it comes to choosing any type of project. Or do you believe that we don't deserve to be well informed?
On the other hand, it's not about the money either. I haven't asked for a refund precisely because I want my cash to go towards a worthy cause.
Whether they have enough resources or not, they should not treat people in such a demeaning manner. It's precisely those people/volunteers that help in making the WFFT a success. Those people should be treated with the deserved respect.
Thanks for your comment.
This is so different to all the other experiences I have heard. I guess I was brought up loving getting my hands dirty and "roughing it", so this sounds like a wonderful experience to me.
I have to wonder if you have done much travel before and maybe you are used to much more luxury? Of course this experience may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you are working with wild animals in desperate need of help with little resources isn't it worth being a bit uncomfortable?
