bored
Your nights cannot be as boring as my entire days lately! You are supposed to rest after the kiddies are asleep anyway. How do you prove that you own a BMW to get in the museum free? Need registration docs? Anyway, spoke with Ira. He and your mom are fine. Heard all about the May's condo and every time he talks to me he reveals more work he has done on himself I never knew about. TMI! Binge watched Downton Abbey and will start on Mr. Selfridge and Wolf Hall soon. Reading still tires my eyes out after a while. Tiny print Oxford University Press book! Have fun. Stay cool.

pastries?
Anything good to eat? Any chance you got to see the Lipitzaner training facility? Kids love horses. Looking a little better every day. Still not going out in the light of day unless to the doctor though. Jan said buy a tank top in a tourist shop to keep cool. You can always give it to Stef as a souvenir. Will check with Ira today and see if he can let me know how your Mom is doing. When you get back fill me in on teachers from home stay and their school. Herald said AP scores due out today. Will let you know if I see anything to report.

Fantastic photos for unsutured eyes
You really know how to capture a sunrise and sunset (over lake Lucerne) with that I pad! Beautiful. Looks like the weather is cooperating. Need to see a group picture of the kids. Are the other chaperones okay to be with? Hope the trip is as enjoyable as the photo evidence suggests. Every day the swelling and bruising and redness from laser get better. Dr. was very pleased with healing when he cut my eyes open yesterday. Funny how he does not want to hug and kiss you goodby when you are one and 2 days out of surgery. At 6 days he kissed me on the head when I left. Jan has been a fantastic seeing-eye nurse. Terry said she finished steroids but still has a headache. Leslie said she looks like Quasimodo after her surgery. I can get my glasses on now and see well enough that I should be able to start watching Downtown Abby and reading today. Good thing. Was going crazy not being able to cook, clean, read, sew, text or watch PBS! Still not sleeping much since I'm propped up. Have fun. Eat!

Versailles
Always look up! Just saw a movie on the building of the Versailles gardens last weekend. Kate Winslet and Alan Richman. It was beautiful, but I'm sure not as beautiful as the real thing. Looked very crowded there. Tourists! Ira called to give me moral support for surgery tomorrow and Terry said the doctor said she was "mending" but there was still some bleeding although she feels much better. Have fun. Be safe. Will check in again when I can see.

OMG! Another amazing adventure.
Why does it look like your group did so much more than mine. You have pictures of things we did not see. Chapel at Harvard. Stuff on Freedom Trail. Things at Plimouth. Oh yeah. I was with a whiny 6th grader. Another great feat of organization! I still need to write you a check. Sorry it took so long for me to find a few minutes to check out the blog.

return
Have a safe trip back. TSA has tightened security from Heathrow to U.S. Make sure you can power up all of your electronic devices before you get on plane. Dead batteries may cause a problem. Will be having a colonoscopy Thursday afternoon. Call after you are settled on Friday.

Paris
Did you get to see Stef? Louvre pictures came out great. Hope the kids got a little culture. Ira is fine. Still eating Stouffers. Our 4th plans were all cancelled. Everyone sick except Jan & I. Jeffrey has strep throat. Cyndy, Gary, Chris have some sort of plague. Something is going around. Looking forward to your return!

Nicholas Copernicus
The brevity of life, the failing of the senses, the numbness of indifference and unprofitable occupations allow us to know very little. And again and again swift oblivion, the thief of knowledge and the enemy of memory, makes a void of the mind, in the course of time, even what we learn we lose. –Nicholas Copernicus, fragmentary scrap found among his papers (ca. 1540)
