Heading South How far south are you heading Captain and what's your schedule? I have another wedding in December, but might be able to join you after all that.
Congratulations on retirement!!

Next Adventure Mike, good to hear from you. I sailed up to NY a few years ago on a friends 30 foot Ranger. We sailed in the ocean for 36 hours to Atlantic City. Stayed at the Trump marina casino. I won $400 at the craps table which was good for the sailing kitty. We stopped in the Shark River to anchor one night and then pulled into Manhattan. Took a cab to Little Italy and then Times Square. got into a little debaunchery which can't be talked about in public but had a great time. I flew home from NY but my buddy headed up to Mystic seaport and picked up another friend to sail backto the bay with him.
After that I rode with another friend in his 65 foot Irwin to Anapolis. We drove the boat all night in thick fog using radar. Anchored by the wall at the Academy. I really like Anapolis.
If I ever do an extended sail again I think I will head north. A lot people around here say that they like sailing north more than going south on the waterway. Bring lots of money and come on down and we will leave next week if you want.
the next adventure These entries were great - I enjoyed reading them every few days. Next Adventure: Take Seaquel north to Boston and back! Ports O Call: Inner Harbour, Baltimore; Penns Landing Philadelphia; the Jersey Shore; NYC; and Boston, catch Annapolis on the way back.
Oriental I hope you enjoyed Oriental. That is where my dad lives and where we go visit several times per year to vedge. Very nice quiet community.
I have followed your blog regularly and I thank you for doing it for all your friends and family to follow.
I look forward to seeing you sometime when you get back to HR.

fun sounds like a nice adventure. You are always welcome to come back here and work for a living again. Eventually you will remember this as having been fun.
GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU good to talk the other day, sounds like you have had some fun and aggravation, hope it goes well on the sail back north, that crap on the bottom sounds like something like we ran into at topsail sea lice, we had never heard of them before, they would bite and cause red whelps and itching, mainly under womens bathing suits, glad you are doing this dirty work rather than me, i believe i will take the snow instead
Your brother Doug ask me to say, HELLO!! The last time I saw you was when the USS TOMAHAN sailed into Salt pond on a Sunday afternoon last summer with the USUAL Emergeny need of HELP. As is tippical ? for our skipper, he had heard that we might find some less expensive diesel fuel ($3.00 as compared to the Norfolk Yatch Club wanting 3.01 per gal.} , so we (it was really HE made the decision ) to stop by Salt Pond and beg for the cheap fuel that he had hears about. Our crew arrived with this request , and eventho you, your dock master, and all of your friends made a MIGHTY effort to help us, we ended up driving to town, buying a NEW fuel tank we did not need . paying 4.99 per gal. and loosing two hours in time trying to get back to the Farm before nightfall. As the humble crew, Doug, Sailor Bob, Randy Neal, had to answer to themselves , as we sailed out of Salt Pond, to arrive home in deep darkness, "We would either have to BUY the boat , or shut up and obey orders. No one had any money, so................
I am NOT an e-mail chatter,so other than thank you for your efforts I'm "out of here"
ps: I leave tommow for three weeks of Mexican sunshine on their west coast with some non sailors, Why don"t you take the boat through the Panama cannel and join us. ???

bored Stay south! We have had unbelievable weather here. Starting with that incredible cold spell for new years. In maryland places have gotten as much as 50" of snow. I bought a new project boat and its in Deale MD and I have had to shovel so much snow off of it. The snow just started melting last weekend. The boat is iced in.
You need to dive on your prop and see if it looks ok. Your prop is as likely to cause your vibration and it can be serviced without hauling. On the other hand you could sail back with the gulf stream, give me a ring when you are approaching salt ponds and I'll give you a tow to your slip.
sorry about the cold weather I appollogize for the cold weather. It seams to have followed me south to the keys for my vacation. Luckily for you my vacation is over and I have returned home so you can expect the keys to return to normal now!
The girlfriend and I had a little bit of fun in cold florida. We went to the everglades and watched alligators and we harrassed manatees at crystal river.
