volunthai Hi Dawn
I don't know if you still visit this website , but thought I could leave a message anyway. I am volunteering with Volunthai in July 2007, and after excessive google searches I stumbled upon your travel blog. I enjoyed all your stories very much, they succesfully lessened my small fear of total abandonment in a non-English environment and now I am looking forward to it even more!
Anyway, I would like to learn more about your teaching experience, so if you read this and are not to busy, feel free to mail me at lauwke_v@hotmail.com
All the best

Girl's haicuts Thanks for you info on the schoolgirls' "bob" haircuts. I tried to ask my friend Ta about this recently and couldn't quite get an answer on that one. My Thai needs a lot of work...
BTW, great blog...very enjoyable to rad about your experiences. onomataho
Too bad they don't have Cold-FX :) Hi Dawn,
Thanks for adding me to your reminder list; otherwise I wouldn't remember to read your posts! I know there are a LOT that I haven't yet read, so hopefully I can go back once in awhile. You should condense them all into a little book when you get home, and add photos and see if maybe NeWest might be interested in publishing it! :)
Anyway, I have no idea what to take when you feel like you're getting sick, but I find that taking Cold-FX whenever I feel like I'm getting sick ALWAYS seems to work for me. Sadly, I don't think they have that in Thailand! :) But the main ingredient, I think, is American Ginseng, so maybe you could see if you could find something like that.
Anyway, I'm glad you had so much fun rock climbing--it sounds great! I'm terrified of heights, so I don't think I could do that.
I hope you can teach me some of the recipes that you learned there.
Love Chris
eww for leeches! You can contract some pretty nastle stuff from those rice paddy waters. Flukes, worms I saw a ton of photos on them when we were studying parasites *shivers*
So good to see you in person. You sure looked beautiful in the truck. Kathy now visiting with us and we hope to see your parents before she leaves. Keep well. Looking forward to seeing you when you come home. Loved the pictures on your blog. Please send more.
Cheers
Yay Dawn! You are a beauty! You always manage to have the most amazing experiences ever! Anyway, I'm glad you were representing the parade evening though you had to endure much pain! You looked wonderful!
Feed the ants? Maybe if you fed the ants in a discrete location they would stay away from you. When I have ants in my house I find out where their trail enters the room and I put food there. So immediately upon entering the room, they find lots of food and never go farther. I wonder if that would work for you.
awh dawn! I'm glad to hear you're getting better. Being a man in the next life? That's not that high of a promotion. As far as I know, one of the best things to transcend to is not to be a human again but like a enlightened figure that's detached from all the worldly things.
Love your adventures I read your journals at the end of my work day and have gotten so I can't wait to see what the next adventure will be. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful insight of each of your days!

I (heart) randomness! Thanks for those random encounters in Thailand. I'm happy that you have the opportunity for all of those fun (and no-so-fun) cultural experiences. Thanks for sharing!
P.S. I look forward to seeing your traditional Thai outfit sometime!! :-D

All the best with the culture shock!
