Wow I'm amazed. You seem to have a very nice job! Your blogs interested me because my dad was born in Zambia, but I have never actually been there myself.
But anyway,
keep doing what you do,
and God Bless!

Tough break... Just read this journal, sorry to hear about the laptop - I know how gutted I'd be to lose mine. Glad you still have the camera though. Send backups of your photos home when you get the chance... btw - your writing and photos are great - hope your luck changes.
Amazing contribution Well, I just wanted to congratulate David on his amazing contribution he is making to REALLY helping people. I hope everything is going well for you buddy. . . and that your adjustment phase has been as smooth as possible. Just remember, a charismatic white man in a predominantly non-white region can have a drastic impact on his surroundings.
Take care bud,

More involvement i have recently developed an interest in inexpensive irrigation-farming in Zambia so i was surfing the internet and came across your article.
Its very impressive and hopeful to discover that there are people out there making a difference.
The comment i wanted to add was another factor why farming in zambia is taking long to develop is because most of us believe its a pass-time activity and something one does after they retire, just to keep busy.
i wish the school curriculum could be altered to teach us that farming can be a "real" job with a good income. Also in my school, working in the production unit was a punishment frequently given to wrong-doers. Such small actions i think have normous consequences.
Keep up the good work and if there is room for volunteers i.e. educating farmers in crop growing etx to help where they can please say so. - MK
Please continue posting Thank you so much for recording your initial thoughts and impressions about Zambia. I, and 5 others from our church, will be traveling to Lusaka in August of this year, and your posting is helping us to get ready for our experience. I hope that you will continue to tell us about your daily activities, and about what you learn about the Zambian culture. Any "survival tips" you can add would be much appreciated. - Laurie Hurd

It is one of our greatest hopes to have a life that somehow makes a difference in the world, and more
specifically, in someone else's life. This is when we know our purpose goes beyond our own existence. Even
through our mistakes and pain (and often because of these things) we have an ability to touch someone else's
life marked by similar experiences. - Aaron C

I'm now done working in Southern Africa for Engineers Without Borders, after being there for 3.5 years....well, done for the short term at least. It was an amazing experience and one that has deeply shaped the person I am now and who I will be in the future. You can read my final update post to learn more about my final years. I'm sorry I didn't continue posting for my last 2.5 years, sometimes when you are in a place for a long period of time, things that at first seemed interesting just become the everyday and you stop thinking about how they still might be interesting to people back home.
