New Year's I was there on New Year's that same night as well...and I also saw the Christ statue the same day that you did. New Year's was a lot of fun, however the line for the Christ statue, I'll never forget it. It was incredibly long, and it rained. It took HOURS! At least the views were worth it :)
Other incidents on my time in Rio... *Shouted at by a prostitute
*Grabbed by a homeless man
*Gunfire outside my favela hostel
*Being given a bullet by a random woman for "my protection".
Welcome to my world.
Lovin' the blog by the way, dude. Don't forget to give me a shout if you end up in Blighty...
Hello traveler Did you make it to Cartagena? Sounds like some of those buses are quite interesting, to say the least. We're preparing for Xmas.
Sad that you won't be here but undoubtedly, you're going to enjoy seeing how the Catholic influence down there in South America shapes their holiday celebration! FYI, it's zero degrees in Omaha, Portland, OR has 5-8" of snow and the cold front has pushed into Houston.... 38 degrees. Are things "heating up" down there? Didn't you say this is summer in South Amer?
Gary says "HI!!" We love and miss you, Brady!!! Mom
James Bond in Bolivia You are not going to believe this but I just saw the new Bond movie this last weekend at the theatre and it was all about Bolivia. The Salt Desert and La Paz had tons of scenes. You will probably get a kick out of seeing it. I started laughing when I realized you were currently there when I was watching the movie. Crazy
That's hilarious!! Hahah...sorry, i just have to comment on your bus ride...That is way too funny! Sorry to hear that you had an eventful bus journey....wish all the best afterward~
P.S. Go Buckeyes!!! :D
Yay!!! Hey Braden, sorry...finally got the time to look at your blog for the first time. Hope you are having an awesome time in S. America.
South Americans can be very affectionate, even more so than the Texans :P And I'm 110% in agreement with you!! Haha....
But sounds like your trip started off with nice people, which is always a good thing. Keep up with the blog and pictures!!!
Take care~
Anna
Hey Hey man, couldn't remember if I already made a comment but congrats on making it out there. 26 hours of travel doesn't sound all that fun. Hope the weather is treating you well, things are crap here.
Alright man, keep the blogs up.

lucky guy Guess you're a lucky guy on several accounts.... friendly guides to help you learn quickly about the culture and the new community you've chosen as your entre' to Chile. I suppose you're going to find that your perceived need for personal space will be challenged often as you travel around the world. Glad to know you've arrived at your first destination.
Personal Space... I can only imagine how you would have taken that given your aversion to people crowding you. Hopefully the flight attendant was at least somewhat attractive and had a pleasant smell. HA.
