Blimey, thats nothing! I've just re-read our blog and don't find it overly negative in any way. In it I complained about a hotel owner keeping his dog in a concrete cage, a mad english time-traveller who thinks he can predict events by shuffling pieces of paper around, and I've commented on hijras, the travsvestites who use their reputation to extort money out of people (without making any judgement on them). I think the rest of the blog was pretty positive.
We love India, and I've just come back from another 3 weeks there. However, as any traveller finds, there are as many "negative" or at least challenging experiences to have there as "good" ones. Its what makes the place and it wouldn't be the same without them.
In the last three weeks I've had a bloke expose himself to me, try to get into my train bed and having been told to fuck off sit opposite me masterbating. I've found a little dog decapitated on the pavement in the middle of Calcutta. I've watched two goats decapitated in a temple, seeing their panicked eyes look around and their mouths silently bleat - after their heads had been macheted off. I've nearly slipped over on human shit. The appartments above my regular coffee shop caught fire killing 50 people.
And I still love the place.
You think I shouldn't write about these things? You want just a sanitised, rose-tinted view of the place? Maybe look at their tourist board website. Sorry, but if my blog has put you off the whole sub-continent for life then you're not cut out to go there.

Ross Kelly Did you visit India to enjoy yourselves, or to pull the place to bits. Seems to me you met a fellow Englishman & also spoke of him in the same tone you spoke of the dogs owners. Was the dog on the menu. No, I think you have put us of India for life. Thanks for the review.

music banana moon hi,stewart taylor here,i played banana moon for a coupla of seasons and had a right laugh doing so.Amanda left ado and to be honest apart from the music nights it fell to bits.Last season abo opened again and the music nights where the only thing that kept it going.Abo left without paying his staff, just left them a goodbye note which left them and there familys in so much trouble,Ithought abo was a stand up guy until i read the letter myself.Pravin the head chef was crying because his wife left him,we all had a wip round for them but it wasn,t near enough, and staff that have worked for him for 5 years and where just beside themself. What a shit end to the best time i ever had in goa...Well done abo you got my number i dare you to ring me because the thought of you turns my guts,i wouldn,t trust you as far as i could through you.Your good at pulling the wool over peoples eyes and if i never saw the letter i would still have been on your side....shame on you doing that to them poor people who looked up to you

The dehydrated dog called Molly With respect, this dog was kept in conditions that would have warrented an RSPCA visit in the UK. Apart from anything else, it is unacceptable to keep a dog locked up all day with no water, whether or not it is let out at night. It was obviously thirsty and gasping when we saw it, this was poinetd out to the owner and he just shrugged his shoulders and said it was down to the woman who comes in to look after the dog. We stand by our comments.
The dog's called Molly As a good friend of Joseph and Molly,Lloyd,Jackie,Laloo, and all his other dogs I would like to point out to you that they get let out at night and they get food and water and cleaned. I stay there every year for many weeks and I don't like your comments and I hope you won't ever say them again. Thankyou!

Hi! This is me and my wife, Claire. We're just(May 2006)in the process of renting out our house in Bedford UK, and setting off travelling for a bit. Yesterday we jacked both our jobs in (Claire's a Nurse, I'm a Train Driver)and hope to be away by the end of June. There's gotta be more to life than working, and we hope to be away off and on for maybe 4-5 years.
The only concrete plan we have is that we have a flat booked in Goa for 6 months from the 1st November. We'll probably spend a few weeks in Ghana first, at a leprosy rehabilitation centre that her mum's friend runs. As soon as we le... full info
