I don't recall whether you were studying architectural engineering or civil eng, but anyways. I just saw pictures of a friend of mine who just returned from Brazil and visited Belo Horizonte. Some pretty cool architecture by world famous architect/designer Oscar Niemeyer, his buildings are simply amazing. Probably you've seen them already and else Well, I just thought I mention it becasue of the coincidence.
You know, pop corn is always a bitch when it gets stuck between your teeth! You could be that anoying pop corn! Espiga!Espiga! Nobody is going to want to take your stuff every again. Very cool Cheers!
Did you have to put the close-up picture of your blistered feet?! Oh man you're hilarious, I was cracking up at the whole Espiga- pop out in your face thing. Too much. I've always wanted to learn/do capoera but it looks so hard!
I like your brackets... It's almost like you are expecting people to start saying you need to start maybe going after Carolina...so you stop people like me from the start by putting the 25 yrs has bf right there...However if you continued it for every girl you meet in your journal...it would quickly turn creepy...Still I acknowledge it and appreciate it...Go Leidl!
That's terrible news. I hope you saved some photos on a disc but with big memory, it's not likely. My purse and camera was stolen in Montreal - it bites. Cancel that cell phone fast so you don't wind upwith potentially $0000000 in long distance calls. I guess it is maybe back to the old kodak for a while.
See you soon, Leanne
Think of it this way Yes, it sucks to have lost these items; but think of it this way: fate had to be cruel to be kind, taking your valuables for this invaluable story to tell. As long as cell phones, cameras, Brasil, and losing things while drunk remain topical conversation pieces, you have one more entertaining (and edifying) to say.
That sucks! Oh nooooooooo...not your camera! Not the camera I borrowed a gazillion times to shoot all those candid 6th floor videos! Not the camera I was just thinking of buying myself! Damn...oh well. What can you do? Just try to get pictures off your friends...
that´s balls fuck dan, that blows. i would probably cry a bit when no one was looking. you should get a fanny pack. i´ll take plenty of pics on our excursion that i can email you.
Another hilarious anecdote. Did they chuckle at your quip, "Well, I'm home"? Well written the - you recreate scene such that I share your embarrassment as I read it. Sorry, I'm reading an article now on the twofold nature of reading by J. Hillis Miller. First off, we create for ourselves an imaginative world from the words we read (hence our disputing of other interpretations, as when a book-based movie fails to live up to our idea of the story). The second part is to criticize, or reflect critically upon, the world that we create in our minds from the words that we read (thus, in the case of the movie example, to realize that the film just another, possibly more valid, interpretation). Luckily, for me, the second part of reading your evocative entry reminds me that it is not I who should feel embarrassed. When are you returning to Canada? If your in-person anecdotes are half as entertaining as your blogs, I will supply the first pitcher, provided you return before September 7. Cheers.
dolt! 4am fiasco hey? Nice one.
How did the hockey game viewing work out? Was it a compatible format?
Not much new here - Ricky's home from Australia today and it's my bday on Sunday in case you need to Fed-Ex a card or something... I'd never say "no" to some nice Brazilian jewelry or whatever you deem appropriate. I won't turn 28 too many more times afterall!
Party it up Hey dude! Brazil sounds like so much more fun than Canada! I'm glad you're having fun, and Im sure you're partying hard...don't forget, you'll actually have to do "real" work when you get back here..hehe.
Anyway keep posting lots of pics...it's nice to see what you're up to!
brazil... (L) Great to see ppl writing from my beautiful beloved home country!!
Oh yeah... he power of tranlastion.. I love the ability of speaking more than one language.. and the lack of such from others! ehhehe Can be a LOT of fun! :p

Amazing Hey, you have a great eye for photography. We're loving your stories and sounds like you are living the adventures of many years in just a few months. Keep enjoying yourself. Sounds like a time of your life.
See you in the fall.

it is neat to hook up with a friend on the other side of the world, like you said inthe first paragraph of your entry. just like we´re going to!
aaahhh rio... isn't it great to be able to go to the beach even in the winter?!
ooohhh how i miss my beautiful city.. :/ and yes, coconut water.. it's probably one of the best things in life to just sit and enjoy really cold coconut water at a beach.. in rio, especially :D *homesick*
anyways... glad you enjoyed it!!
take care
Awesome pictures, looks like an amazing trip. I am not sure if you are actually doing any work or if it is one big holiday. Enjoy - you will have enough work in a few months in Vernon.
Xavier thinks you head down to the topless beach and find yourself a good south american girl, bring her back, marry her and give Xavier a little cousin.
Keep Rocking in the free world!

Well Done Finally had a second to read up on your adventures and two words: Well Done. On more than one occasion when I was in Brazil, I remember missing my bus on Purpose to admire the "scenery". Will you get to check out any beaches? Same scenery - clothing = a very good thing.
Here is a project for your next 'slow' day at work. Who is the most famous Brazilian Hero? Ask around...it was Wilhelm Tell in die Schewiz.
Enjoy! Chantelle and I head up north this Saturday so we're counting sleeps, trying to pack and are getting pretty Excited! Ciao
Now I have CCR in head!
My favorite CCR lines come from the beginning of "Someday Never Comes." Quoting them outside the context of their sublime melody normally wouldn't do them justice, but anyone who knows the song will read them to the tune:
First thing I remember
was asking papa, why,
For there were many things
I didn't know
And daddy always smiled
And took me by the hand,
Saying, someday
you'll understand
Fantastic. I always knew my baby brother was even cooler than Francine and Chantelle. What's next on your schedule to try? America's most Talented??

Days before leaving to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on an IAESTE internship program a good friend of mine, Hugh, wrote in to Rex Murphy's Cross Country Check-up. He commented on the disagreement between the Prime Minister and the Ottawa Press Gallery using the word "circumlocutorily" (sound it out) to express the way Stephen Harper answered the press's questions. The word stumped Mr. Murphy, quoting "I'll have to get back to you on that one." It reminded me of all the beating around the bush, to put it in layman's terms, leading up to my internship and I thought it a fitting choice for the tit... full info
