Today was a busy day - left a 9.00 am, and just going home now -10.30pm! Been to the exhibition. Absolutely amazing - just a taste of what I will see in Egypt.. incredible work of the jewellery worn by King Tut. So incredibly still looks amazing. Managed to get to Westminster Abbey.. never been able to get there before previously. Wasn't disappointed. Poets corner is fantastic. So many buried there!! Came up from Brighton today on the train. Beautiful day - weather is picking up a bit. Deb and Dom arrived yesterday and met me on the Brighton Pier. They are so brown from their week in Croatia. They loved it - may have to add that to my "to do list" , along with Tunisia. Have met a lot of people who have been there and had a great time. We wandered around Brighton before going back to the pub where we stayed and had a rest before going to the 40th birthday party we were here for. Good night - 60's theme so lots of dancing and boozing. Left Brighton at 12 and headed to London. Booked in to Hotel and have just wandered around Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace. Grounds of the garden ... read more

Well end of the week and have made Brighton. Wednesday headed to Leicester. Longest run yet. Traffic on motorway so I stick to the A roads. Went to Ceroc in Leicester - not a bad class. Thursday headed to Althorp and stayed longer than I expected, so called into Cambridge. Had a look around, but a bit dissappointed that there is so much commercial shops right in the centre of the town. Ran out of time so looked for accommodation. Stayed in Suffam Prior a little village outside of Cambridge. B & B but ended up in the holiday cottage that had 3 bedrooms! Leeft this morning and was aiming for Canterbury, but the traffic on the Dartford bridge slowed me right down. Instead went to Leeds Castle. Very nice. The grounds are beautiful and your ... read more

First week down and 5 to go. Have travelled up to Lancashire, traversed the Pennines through to Newcastle after a road detour and still found the place OK!. Staying with Barbara and John whom I met in Sydney when they were tourists!! Now I am the tourist. Today we have been to Alnwick castle where Harry Potter was made. Then to a little village inn for lunch, then up the coast to Bamburgh castle and the Farne Islands which is not too far away from Scotland. We headed back down the coast through coastal towns. You would not know they existed except for my wonderful guides!. An enormous amount of history related to Newcastle and early England. Learning so much.. has been very interesting. Tomorrow heading down the coast toward Durham, Nottingham and Leicester. Overnight near ... read more

Arrived today after a long long trip! Must say I am coping OK after only having around 5 or 6 hrs sleep. Flight was good, met in LA by Soledad who works for QANTAS. She took me up to the first class lounge and we had coffee. Arranged for me to have a row of 4 seats blocked off so I could catch some shut eye. Landed in New York with only about an hour turnaround and then on to London. Sitting behind me was Terapai who is a friend of the Mettis! Plays drums in the band for Missy Higgins! Haven't seen him for quite a long time. We were both a bit surprised to see each other!. Picked up the car and as you can see I am in Oxford. Wandering around this place ... read more

Today is the 24th July, and with only 11 days to go before I leave, I feel this has come on me so quick. Long time coming with a rollercoaster ride to this date. Being away will be a grounding time, one that will change me I think as I feel I am too soft to too many things. I need this to harden me up a little and to focus on what life is all about. Carpe Diem.. a notable quote. One that I will embrace every day I am away. ... read more
