ATACAMA Planned our 4WD drive through the Atacama Desert many times only to divert to Africa or elsewhere...still at the top of our "To Do" list. I saw the Southern Cross in the Northern Hemisphere when having an early morning leak on the Niger River in Mali...a great surprise. Went to a field at 4am near Coonabarabran in New South Wales to view Halleys Comet one year...blew me away when a heap of tourist buses pulled up to join us. I've even seen a reported UFO...and a meteorite crash just near our home. But to go to exotic locales and lie on my back and watch the starry sky...always special...makes one realise we are just microscopic specks in time & space. Guess I'll make sure I do it when we finally get to Atacama. Keep safe Chris & Amy...what a trip!
Amazing photos! Your photos are amazing! I am very envious. San Pedro and the Atacama desert is somewhere I've wanted to go for ages. Looks like you had an amazing experience.
Star gazing I was watching Brian Cox on Wonders of the Solar system last night on the TV before bed . He was looking at the Milky Way in South Americas clear night sky's .It was very interesting , but give me Amy and Chris's blog any time .They've been to more places in the world and smile more than Brian .
Lots of love Dad xxx
Spectacular! Glad that you were able to capture this beautiful image as seen through the telescope with your camera. That 24 hour bus journey seems worth the effort in order to gaze upon something as glorious as this.
Love your blog Hi from a random Canadian and fellow travel junkie! You are currently on my favourite continent---I have been to SA three times and am planning my fourth trip. Love your words and your pictures!! I hope to read about your travels around Lake Titicaca soon? An amazing experience for me!!
I realize that checking your blog to see where you two are at the moment has become a habit, and I'm so happy for it. I've gone away for long periods on several occasions, but was never disciplined enough to keep up with a blog to track my days. Thanks so much for sharing, really love your photos and words. I send good thoughts!
Funny to read - we loved it, too! It is great to read that you all enjoyed CarninaE. We had about the same experience. People there were lovely, the wine (esp. the rose) was really nice - well and the idea of the combination of astology and wine is great. We went there about 3,5 years ago. It is good to hear that they keep going the same way. Enjoy your time in Valdivia - it's a great city.
We loved CarninaE! Oh my, we are soooo jealous of the wine drinking at CarninaE - it was definitely one of the best wineries we visited. The rose wine was lovely there (Donna can't drink too much red - migraines!) and we bought a few of their bottles to take with us for when we left Argentina. Drunk in charge of a bike - good job the drivers there are understanding, although wobbling along after a few glasses was a highlight of our time in Mendoza.
Great minds think alike! It seems to be a popular spot! Poor Donna:( I (Amy) feel your pain, getting migraines all the time. I paid the price the following day for drinking too much red! Oh well!
an artist I love your pictures, you are a genuine artist. I am glad to know you liked Uruguay, it´s so close to us. I have been to Colonia twice, a nice place. Hugs from Argentina. Graciela.
I love it It´s good you have visited my country. I live at 400 km from Buenos Aires (Tandil) so I travel quite often because I love the big city. I agree with what you say about La Boca and it´s good to know about those opinions. Hope you come back. Have you seen the Iguazú Falls, the glaciers and the mountains? If your answer is NO, I do hope you change for a big YES. Hugs from Argentina.
again, lovely photos :) i was quite hoping i'd read about you and chris doing the tango!haha.I always enjoy reading your stories. enjoy the next part of the trip. x
Mmmmmm! Fab images. 2 questions. Firstly who is taking the credit and secondly how much time do you spend uploading the photos to the site? It seems to take us forever for each image to upload.
Thanks! Actually the credit gets shared as we both take the pictures (though we have to fight over the camera from time to time!). So far in South America, our photos have been going on really quickly (5 minutes for approximately 40 photos), but we have experienced countries where it has taken longer and we've had errors occur with titles for pictures. If it is taking that long to upload, I'd contact the site admin as it may be something to do with something a bit more technical for which we are definately not expert!
We are Amy and Chris. After completing our first attempt at a round the world trip in 2012, we are currently fitting in careers around our enduring need to see the world.
Our blog is primarily for family and friends, but we are always flattered to learn that others have read (and on occasion even enjoyed) our writing and photographs. With that said...
Afoot and light hearted, I take to the open road. Healthy, free, the world before me.
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose...you road I enter upon and
look around! I beli... full info
