Congratulations on your book! I'm a bit slow in discovering this news, but I hope completing your book was enormously satisfying. May you be rewarded with many sales and happy readers!
:) This is a co-incidence, because a guy I sat next to on my last flight was telling me about how Ryanair causes people to start exploring untouristed towns. I had never heard of Rzeszow either, so reading this blog now to find out more. If Ryanair flies from Munich(where I live), I am certainly going to check out their untouristed destinations with an open mind. :)
Rzeszow A delightful tale from an equally delightful area of Poland. There are many such towns in the region as we found whilst motorhoming there last year. All quite unexpected in a wonderful country many of us know little about and imagine as 'grey'. I sincerely hope your missive encourages others to raise their horizons. (By the way; Rzeszow is Southeast Poland - not Southwest. Easily done - I do it often!)
Amazing!!! I actually come from Mielec and though (and maybe hoped) you ventured 60km farther east from Rzeszow to my hometown;-) I am so happy you enjoyed my land but hope you also went to some other Castles is the near neighborhood like Przeclaw and Sandomierz - they are really amazing, better than Rzeszow I would say;-)
such a surprise and great read;-)

HaHa! I thought the beer thread was launching a masive attack on my inbox, by reproducing itself indefinately. I sure was relieved to find out, that somebody was in fact making posts on that thread and that was the cause of the email notifications. :)

Thank you for this blog! :) I was born in Düsseldorf and grew up here, and I really love my city. Still, whenever I'm travelling and people ask me, if the city has anything special, I must admit, no, sorry, no impressive monuments or famous sights to mention. But Düsseldorf has many beautiful little spots, museums, exhibitions, music events, you just have to discover you personal 'magic places'.
BTW, there's a Mercer study about 'live quality' in which expats vote Düsseldorf repeatedly in the Top 10 - among Zurich, Auckland, Vancouver, Vienna, Sydney ... And I suppose, this is not only because they like the Altbier so much. ;)
I'm really happy that you enjoyed your stay!
Great blogs! At last, I got around to reading some of what you write. You can have my recommend too. That should keep your blogs hitting the Front Page for the foreseeable future. :)
Wilhelm-Marx-Haus Dusseldorf I like the photo, thank you. But the comments about Dusseldorf "“Düsseldorf? Why go there?” asked certain people when I told them of our plans for New Year’s Eve. “Surely there are better places to go than Düsseldorf?” And that was the problem. Düsseldorf seemed to have a bit of an image problem. I blame Auf Wiedersehen Pet, the hit 1980’s TV program. On screen Düsseldorf was portrayed as a bleak industrial city, certainly not a top destinat ... ""
couldn't be more wrong. the city is famous for so much, some of the biggest fairs & exhibitions, the capitol city of the largest state. A fashion city with the most famous shopping mile "the Koe". The longest bar in Europe, the Dusseldorf Altstat and on and on....I wonder were those folks got their info from.
Well, it's their loss
Most Enjoyable I enjoyed walking the streets of Dusseldorf with you. I have been there many times in the past and it was a pleasure revisiting with you.
I know Barton well. Had my first ever flight in a light aircraft there. But I eventually trained at Leeds Bradford and then Full Sutton. Long tarmac to short grass strip did me the world of good!
My aim was to visit at least 100 countries, and with Brazil, I finally did it. I'm now loitering at 104. Or is it 105, I lose count...
Unlike a lot of fellow travellers, I tend to only dip my feet into a country, quite often only staying a day or two before heading off somewhere else.
Country numbers 54 and 55 were my first trips alone - something I never thought I'd do.
In 2013 I published an e-book entitled The Red Quest, detailing my mission to visit each and every country of the former Soviet Union. Along the way I sa... full info
