What a perfect coincidence! We had dinner at Le Coupole with Charlotte and Alain! And yes, I've had lots of moules so far and will have huitres tonight!! Can't believe it's over already...
Hi in Paris Hey guys, we're so sorry you've got rain in Paris! Seems we can all be 'weather witches'! If it rains here this week, maybe we can hire ourselves out in drought areas!
We're having a great time in Doha with Bob and family.
Casey celebrated his 6th birthday today, Nov. 1. He's such a
wonderful little guy!! Dave got him a radio control remote car and he is in heaven.
Tomorrow, Friday, is Qatar's religious holiday, so no school, no work -
We're going to a resort on the Persian Gulf for the day and plan to
have fun there.
Our time has gone by so fast!!! Bet you feel that way too.
Saturday is Casey's birthday party - hopefully some more shopping at the bazaar's for me. The prices at the bazaars are
amazingly low. So sad that the laborers in 3rd world countries who do the work get almost nothing while everyone between them and us at home reap the big rewards (my commentary!)
We leave Doha at 2:10 Sunday morning, flying overnight to London
A day in London, then home on Monday - trying to alleviate the shock of the 8 hour time change.
Hope all is well with both of you - Ginny
Me again. Found my notebook where I kept the names of restaurants we went to and liked. One for seafood was La Coupole, assuming it is still around, huge platters of seafood, 102 Bd. du Montparnasse, 14e, Metro Vavin, and the other one for oysters, is Huitrerie Regis, 3, rue Montfaucon, in the 6e, just off Bd. St. Germain, that place was reviewed by Mark Bittman, in the NYTimes so you might see your friend from Long Island!!! Can you tell I am obsessing about oysters.
Hi Guys,
Having fun reading your blog. Too bad about the weather.
Petanque, by the way...
Did you try the Moules yet? what about oysters? Probably not a good idea to go for a blood test upon your return, although if you imbibe enough red wine, it should help the cholesterol level...
How much longer will you be there?
Have you been to the Pere Lachaise cemetery, it is supposed to be very interesting, should have done that yesterday on Halloween!
Have a wonderful time. It sounds like you are, even without the sun's cooperation.
Love
Mado
Mom, you are just TOO silly. The photos of kids are great, but maybe a little less analysis...? (Besides, the kids in the cart remind me more of Cingular ads.)
Autumn looks wonderful there! Be sure to step on some crunchy French leaves for me.
Youth Yea, and you thought I was kidding when I said I wasn't coming home! Of course I look younger. There are no 13 year olds around to compare me to! To which to me compare? You're the English teacher now!!
Code names Apparently, it won't matter if we have code names. Read the latest entry and you'll see that everyone in Paris knows in a moment of seeing us that we're American. Go figure. Maybe it's because we ARE having fun! Or, it could be the knee socks and plaid shorts that Erik wears everywhere. Hmmm. I'll call him Socks and he'll call me Shoes - because mine are comfortable and not all high-heeled and pointy-toed like everyone else here.
Yea, we're American. The keyboard doesn't need to know we're American anymore because the guy who runs the cyber-cafe has figured it out and he puts us on an English computer. Brilliant!
Impressive I think the next step is you two needing to come up with code names like Margie and I, haha. It's great to hear how much fun your having, the pictures are great! Your writing cracks me up, one time my boss asked me what I was laughing at.
I agree. WAAAAY too much fun. I think it's amazing that you're typing of a french keyboard and the words are coming out in english here. How does it know?
Just lovely. Hooray for London! I'm VERY impressed (but not at all surprised) by the massive amounts that you saw in just two days. Pictures are terrific, keep them coming!
