Hellooo Cannons!! After losing your blog details in the black hole of my inbox I've just found your link and spent my first day back at work reading through all your wonderful posts. What an amazing time you've had so far. I've gasped at the stories of lost children; smiled through your travels of quaint French villages which I remember so well; salivated over descriptions of cheeses and various cured meats and absolutely cacked myself at Zara's post about "Eyebags"! I've loved hearing all your experiences on this fantastic adventure you're having.
We had a lovely Christmas at Perisher and we're so happy Suzy could be with us. Lots of food/wine/puzzles/cards and a healthy dash of Bombay Sapphire. It was great to get your call on Christmas Day. Hoping we can all be together Christmas 2012 in Thredbo.
Summer has finally arrived after a miserable wet December. Back at work this week but then off again for a couple of weeks on the beach.
Will keep tuning into your blog. Enjoyed reading it so much. Lots of love to you all. Try not to lose anymore children!!!
Love Katrina (and of course, Dave, Sam and Ella) xxx

I guess you could say they are finding themselves through the travel process....so now you know what they are really like you may want to billet them out as you travel through Europe.... Off to Adelaide for Xmas 2morrow so big kisses to all for Xmas, have an amazing European Chrissy, love us from Sunny Geelong x
Madrid First of thank you for writing back to me. I got alot of great information from you. I have several other questions for you as well. We actually have a reservation for a apartment when we get there. We used the homeaway website. We found a nice place for reasonable price. I think we plan on using the metro for most of our travel so I will get the pass for sure. I want to make the most out of the visit to madrid however dont want to rush things that we go to visit. If we wanted to visit these places how much time do you think it would take to visit them Prado, Sofia, parque retiro, special monuments? Do you think that 8 days might be to long there? Would you reccommend visiting a neighboring city? I hope I didn't leave you with too many questions, however you seem very knowledgeable. Thank you for your time. When I get the logistics for Madrid figured out I have questions ablout other places you visited that my wife and I also plan to visit. Once again thank you for your help and time.
Madrid First off I say we are travelling with 5 kids for over 3 months so our time schedules are different to a couple (and yes I am jealous!). On Sunday the Soffia is open until 2.30 and is free and The Prado free on Sunday in the pm, ?time. Check out the free days as they save you a bit however in a busier season this may proove to be very busy. I think I could have wandered the Prado all day with an esspresso or 2 in the coffee shop but not for us. The Soffia I feel is a couple of hrs but they did not make the kids welcome so may have my own feelings re the place. BTw be careful outside the soffia if you want to save money in the resturants do not sit... They charge alot.
The park is great and would have enjoyed a day with picnic but use it while the city has their siesta.
I personally feel 8 days is too long. We got a car and took off to an area outside valencia as the kids needed a break but Barcelona is amazing and only a short hop on the train, for 2 people it should not be too much but the trains are not cheap. I could live in Barca forever, has a real lfe to it. The Dali museum outside Barca is also great but you could be pushing it time wise.
Driving outside the cities is not too hard and if you get a tomtom it was easy to navigate. The tolls are not cheap but save alot of time.
Hope you have a great time. Enjoy the tapas, have a glass of wine, beer or whatever and just soak it all in. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. we have used sites like this to help us plan, it is nice to give back.
The Voyeur Just moved so we now have time to read the last few weeks of your travels. The blogs are amazing Al, we feel like we are having a tiny European experience here in Geelong....Txs for sharing. This blog I love, hearing how you manage as a localist when visiting other cities. This is the best way to travel, what is it like to walk in someone else's shoes even for a few hours. Plus I think the best thoughts are always over a bottle of wine...Kisses to all
Arizona Cannons say hey Awesome stuff. Yankee Cannon's are keeping an eye on the goings on. We miss you guys and pray for your safe travels. Love John, Christie, April, Bryce and Tessa.
just love it!! Yes you all have experienced it and seen it all. Wish we had the blog when we travelled, I have forgotten a lot of the smaller details - like the ones you have described - keep it up - it has been such a pleasure to read and be a part of of your experiences.

Envious as Hell Hey Guys,
Looks like you're having a ball. Looking forward to hearing about Roma - more chance of a decent coffee one would think!
Just one question . . .
Same old back here at the ranch. Lara got attacked by a champagne bottle, there's riotting at the prison and it's windy as buggery - so Ian'll be glad he's elsewhere.
Keep Bloggin' - Talk soon
Love The Willettes
