I can no longer complain about my alarm (yeah we'll see how long this lasts) because I have found a much stronger hate in my newest traveling discovery 'The snoorer'. TRAVEL LESSON NUMBER 3: always carry a pair of earplugs. Last night we had the pleasure of a new room mate moving into our dorm, he was lovely when he was awake but as soon as his head hit the pillow he was shaking the front door of our hostel and loosening the tiles on the wall with his horrendous snore. Our dear friend Steph had to relocate to the common room to get some sleep. Luckily I slept most of the night through until a few hours before the alarm went off. TRAVEL LESSON #2: Time is not the travellers friend. It seems my life is now dictated by the hands of a clock, constantly waiting, rushing, being woken by the scream of an alarm... OVERSEAS LESSON NUMBER ONE: the human body is not physically capable of sleeping in a chair regardless of the numerous variations of a 'sitting' position. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE!!! After a scary shuttle ride to the hostel, we have dropped our bags and must kill the next 4 hours before we can check in... and when we do check in, we won't be waking up for the next 24 hours following the much needed sleep that we have been so deprived of. Not much to report on really... but will write back when I ... read more
