Well Done! I enjoyed reading about Patton's Memorial. I am ashamed to say that I have visited Luxembourg many times, even living in Luxembourg City for 10 months while I was in high school, and I never visited the cemetery in Hamm. The next time I visit, it will be a top priority.
one of the italians who didn't see the sign Hi Brian it's Carlo I hope you haven't forgotten me I wanted just to say that I was very happy when I fond your blog it seems to came back in the past thx to consider our pasta (Ardennes) the best you have ever eaten
smile Brian! NICE TO SEE YOU - oh how I have missed my travels abroad (through you of course!) - can't wait to have you back home....a good southern cookout will be in order!!!!
Breendonk leaves you uneasy I have visited Breendonk now at least 3 times (with students and with people visiting). It left a deep impression on all of them. And even me, who heard the horror stories for a 3rd time, I could not help it that tears came up again.
I usually go for a good Duvel beer to wash it away.
It sure is a place you should visit if you are nearby.
In Mechelen you have another Kazerne you can visit that is connected to the history of the Fort of Breendonk.
I still have to visit that one.
You took nice pictures. They describes very well the atmosphere there.

Mattingly! Dude, looking good. I was reading about Biodiesel on Wired, and thought of you. Didn't know you had a blog! We miss you here in Fayetteville, bro.
I hear ya on the guilt of not speaking the language. When I realize how all my bi-lingual European friends are speaking English just because I'm around, I feel a bit guilty. Oh well, it's good practice for them, right?
I've always... WANTED TO GO TO SCOTLAND...WAY COOL!!!!!
Missing you here in Arkansas - as usual. Can't WAIT to see you back home!!!
I hope that all is well with you...TT
Hello from Italy! Compliments... Hello from Italy! Your blog is fantastic, I love the pictures! Please, if you have just a free minute, visit me back and leave a comment with your link, so other Italian people will be able to visit you! Thank you!;-D

The tourguide Hey,
I'm one of the tour guides and reading brians impressing of Ghent is both moving and funny. For me, it was a night i will not soon forget. I know 'the local' brian was talking about and the next day he told me that he had met an american who had made a good point about GB but he had forgotten the point. There is talk of a second beer related activity. Brian, hold on to your hat my friend !!!
What A Night! This sounds like a great idea! The narration sounds just like you in person. It's very funny. I too wish there was a picture of you weaving your way through the street, or just falling off would be just as funny. wishing you all the best man. miss ya alot (blahblahblah).....
Hello! Another great story - I am so glad you are keeping a travel journal. Note - the picture titled "Friday night" - you have spirits dancing through that picture - at least two of them I would guess! missing you!
TT
live here I live here in Ostend, and was surprised by all the nice comments you wrote on our city.
Thanks.
Still a lot of other stuff to discover along our short coast. Nieuwpoort (New Port) is more beautiful than Ostend.
Greets,
Steven
Excellent Story Hey Brian! That sounds like a fun pub crawl. Great narration and photos. I laughed at the image of you pondering a pile of junk "with a density approximately equal to that of a neutron star"....
A Grand Idea Hi Brian! Beck sent me your travel blog and its great....makes me think that I have to get your mom, our entertainment director, on this right away. 10 spots, 10 beers, many friends, lots of laughs, sounds like a grand night, and a grand idea! Take care and be careful driving that bike! Peggy Keeling
Fun Times Brian-
Look like you had a pretty good time that night. Love the picture of you "calling it a night" at the ESN Pub. I must agree with you, the owner/proprietor of flea market explosion looks like the type of guy that would run a place like that, really interesting atmosphere. I'm a little disappointed though, I was hoping to see a picture of you trying to get on the bike, let alone riding it. Fun stuff.
I'm from Arkansas, and I'll be living in Belgium for the first half of 2006. I hope this helps everyone keep up with me.
