Oh no!!!! you guys were robbed too, that's awful, i'm so sorry to hear! Did they slip your bag from under your seat? that's how they got me. I'm an absolute nut job now with protecting my stuff on buses. I was robbed in Ecuador 3 months back, and i'm back in this lovely country (not letting that little event sour my opinion of such a lovely place!) but let me tell you, when i got on my bus last night, i tied my purse around my legs four times, and strung my locked up backpack over my front shoulders and hugged it like it was a nerborn baby! glad the most important things were not stolen and you've been able to trek on! cheers :) Brittany

A Grand Finale
Hi again Si, so this last and perhaps best of your epics heralds the end of the trail (for this time anyway). I must compliment you on a well written and informative record of your travels and many adventures. It has been great for us poor old "stay at homes" that we have been able to travel along with you and to share in some of those hair raising adventures. Each new "posting" has been eagerly awaited, sometimes even with a little frustration when the gap between bulletins seemed a little long. We have no doubt that it has been a wonderful trip and one you will appreciate all your life, the highs certainly have outweighed the one or two lows along the way. We too would like to say a big thank you to your true friend Chris who has been a staunch companion and we have enjoyed the privilege of reading his "so" amusing and interesting accounts. I expect that by the time you read this you will be back home with your friends and family, an event S,i that we are all looking forward to and as you will find out the weather has reverted to the typical British summer "cool wet and windy" by way of welcome home, though rumour has it a high is forecast, though that just might just apply to the region of the Botley household. Well done Si and Chris enjoy the flight home and see you soon. N&G R .

Anglo French Relations!!
Hi there Si we were very pleased to read the latest blog, another great read but it must be tough, all this beach time I suppose someone has to do it. Very glad to hear that you have done your bit to cement Anglo French relations. We have to keep them on side if only for the use of their Aircraft Carrier and the use of their airbases. It would have awful had they taken offence just because you ran over one of their mademoiselles Might even have thrown their toys back in the box and left us to sort mad dog Gadaffi on our own. At this stage I would probably have suggested that you and Chris take special care whilst in Mexico but once again I see that I have been pre empted by a member of the Ellis family. Suffice therefore to remind you that it all makes sense , so do be especially careful whilst you are "South of the border down Mexico way" (Title of a song from long before your time) Yes there I go dating myself yet again. Bye for N&G xnow love from

.... Pesky Frenchies!!
Hey Si, glad to hear that you remembered your manners and gave way to a French lady perhaps she was confused - they do drive on the wrong side of the road you know! Sounds like you and Chris are enjoying doing as little as possible it is indeed a hard life by the sounds of it. No green eyed monster here and Gem thinks dolphins are over-rated anyway! (Yeah she might) As for Birthdays in the Caribbean - pfff! Keep it up both - it all sounds amazing, enjoy your final few weeks, take care in Mexico and we will see you very soon!! Lots of love mum xx

Its raining in Wales
Hi there Si, what a great read, the adventures keep on coming. Hard to get one's head round the time warp of the IDL but as you say you've done it so it must be true! The mud slides do bring to mind some great mental pictures, hope you have plenty of good ones to show us "stay at homes" when you return. As to Volcano Boarding, perhaps your "Nan" might have a go, though I doubt it, as for me I think I might give that one a miss!! Now its time to make "you" a little jealous (ha ha) and tell you about our latest travels. A week spent in Somerset was very good, we enjoyed some great walks on Exmoor, though the weather was a bit cool, Mike, Cal and James will vouch to that as they slept in the awning. Next on the agenda a week to the wild wastes of Wales, Snowdonia in fact; where "indeed to goodness" it is living up to expectations and is raining (so what's new about that). Fair to say it has not rained all the time and we have managed a few ventures off the beaten track and enjoyed some walks in wild and rugged scenery. A first ever visit for us to Penrhyn Castle was also most enjoyable. Sadly though the "long hot" summer which we enjoyed in April does seem to have deserted us, perhaps even permanently, maybe you could parcel and bring something of the tropics back with you when you return in July. Si, that's more than enough from us, suffice to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the 16th, we will miss you at the PARTY!!!! Take care, Stay safe, love from Nan and I,

Volcano Boarding......
.... seriously Si what is your problem? Do you have to try that? I'm sure there is no need you know - how about a nice little walk somewhere - much more sensible! (Yeah well its a mum thing - we worry). Have a great time anyway and take care, tis good to hear that you are both OK and have finally had a decent wash by the sound of things! Keep the blogs coming and enjoy your birthday on the 16th! Miss you loads lots of love Mum xxxxxx

Great read
Hi there Si, we really enjoyed the latest chapter of your adventure. You certainly have packed the thrills into your four weeks in NZ, it seems to be such an amazing place. Shame about the first evening though but you seem to have weathered that ok. So pleased you and Chris were successfully able to keep to the planned rendezvous. Fiji seems to have fulfilled the role as an ideal place for a bit of R&R. So its onward into the homeward leg which I am sure will be very different from the earlier legs, very different cultures in that part of the world. So have a great time take care, we are all looking forward to your safe return in mid July.. N&G x

Hi Si sorry for not replying to your fantastic blogs, both you and Chris have done and seen some truly wonderful things. You know that I would have to be tranquilized just to get on the plane! I would have to be already dead to jump, sorry be pushed! I cannot really imagine how terrifying a fall of 16500 ft would be! As for the utter stupidity of the things called bungy jumping and canyon swinging! well no amount of money could cross my palms to make them happen! So I am not going to pretend to be jealous of those idiotic types of activity, but the rest sounds just brilliant and such experiences. I know we will have to await your pictures and they will inevitably struggle to capture the sights but your words really evoke the atmosphere and the excitement . Keep up the brilliant blogs, you and Chris stay safe.

.... beach bums!
Hey Si, what a great way to spend a week we did have visions of you flaked out on a beach following your last two months trekking. Happy to hear that the reunion went to plan and that all is good with Chris. I am sure you have both had many a tall story to tell one another but its good to know that you are back together for the last exciting leg of you trip - how are you both going to cope coming home to Powys in a couple of months? Anyway have a fab time both and take heed of all the good advice being offered. Stay safe. Miss you lots! Love n hugs. Mum

"High Flyer" & The Quick Way Down
Nice one Si, so you did it, well done you; 20thou next time perhaps! On second thoughts perhaps I should not make such suggestions, your Mum will lynch me for leading you on. Got to say my instincts were always to stay with a serviceable aircraft till it was safely on the ground. Its the "Generation" gap I guess but I can admit to feeling a touch of envy. Shame about the bad luck up in Auckland, a lesson in life for sure and one to learn from. We expect you may be feeling a little foot sore as you slog along the way to Queenstown, never fear its the very best way to see the country. Some very sound advice appears in Chris's Nannie's comment; do PLEASE take heed it all makes very great sense and it saves me repeating any of my lectures. Thank you "Nannie" for raising the subject, no further comment from me at this stage. Enjoy the rest of NZ it looks fabulous on Google. Say hi to Chris from us when you meet in Fiji, good luck to both. Love N&G xx

wow! mr action man!
hi simon. what a busy boy you've been! and good for you for not letting bad luck pull you down- every cloud has a silver lining! - even hurricane clouds! everything sounds fantastic-apart from bungee jump. no thank you! i'd have joined you on all that fabulous treking though. it'll make the trefonen hill walk which i do annually, seem a tad tame! hopefully you've achieved most of what you wanted to do in new zealand and are now ready for the return of 'the ellis' to add extra essence to your further travels!!! how is the facial growth? chris is getting really fed up with his [ i'm sure he's overexaggerated and its a bit of bum fluff!]he wants to keep it til he meets up with you though! soooooo competative! enjoy the last 10 days in new zealand and hope the fuijian rendez vous goes ok and you actually recognise each other! two robinson cruesoes wandering around the arrivals lounge! take care, especially in central america. well done you jackie x

Tried to E mail you in Sarnau but don't think it went through even with the help of Graham!
I have been following you and Chris all along the way. Sorry to here about your stolen wallet,if it's any consolation my handbag was stolen in Whakawarewara North Island when visiting the thermal areas.I hid the bag under the front seat on top of sleeping bags, no one was around at all except boys hiding in the bushes! So a brick smashed a window and the bag was gone! We went to Taupo Police end of story! I wanted to tell you that on the east side on S I. On TheOtAGO Peninsula It'S the only place in the World where the Albatross nest on the main land.I Wish you happy ongoing travelling, a great reunion with Chris,in Fiji, and do be careful in Central AMERICA ,Stay together at all times, don,t go out late at night, make sure from reliable locals the places not to go. Have fun, keep safe,Love and Blessings Chris' Nannie
