August in the Pilbaras: It’s 28 wonderfully warm degrees as I sit here in the Savannah Campground, one of two camp areas in the Karajini National Park, the 2nd largest park in WA. The birds are serenading us, early wildflowers are blooming and there is the sought-after solitude we love. We are in the heart of the Pilbara which for many of you may conjure up the image of mining resources, desolate desert and arid barren land. Not so! The Hamersley Ranges are a magnificent sight.
