Hello from KC I've been thinking about alot the last couple of days. Maybe because you are coming home soon and I can't believe that the year has passed so quickly. You are probably in China right now with your Aunt Jean and family. Give everyone a big hug from the Franklins. We will be in touch when you arrive back in the states. Safe traveling and lots of love. Aunt A.
I MISS YOU I'm not just saying i miss you, i reallly really do. After my one month trip to china,i feel like i've gotten a taste of what you must feel like in a foreign country, and i can't believe you've been there for almost a year! it's just so bazarre! I hope you enjoy the end of your trip, and can't wait to see you and talk about our trips!
Love you!
yurikamome the driverless yurikamome to Odaiba is really cool but it is not a monorail! it has wheels with rubber tyres (proper english spelling) on each side of the cariages. the wheels run on 2 flat concrete tracks within a u shaped beam resting on elevated posts. a monorail ride astride a single beam. for photos check a site called Japon, la vie du rail. then click on yurikamome and later on monorail to see the difference. cheers!.
real invitation You are most warmly welcome to come back home and stay as long as you like at any time! That is a real invitation, and we can't wait to see you :) Love and kisses.
Wowieee! Your trip keeps getting better and better! When I read the part about the Ninja museum I was smiling so big. (I have this thing for ninjas... I just cannot resist their awesomness.) I can't miss that either. Where in Nagano is this at?
(My email address is shii.kitty@gmail.com if you would like to chat it up a bit. :D)
Fuuun tiiiime! Looks like you had a great time in Nagano. That was a very nice read. I am planning to live in Nagano next year as an exchange student. I really like the sound of the Shiba-onsen. I may have to visit there! (Sorry if this is old. I have no idea. XD)
Hi Molly,
I was searching the internet for IES, Chiba, etc and ran across this site and your blog. My son is with the IES group studying at Kanda this fall. It was a pleasant surprise to look at your photos and see Justin in your group shot at the sumo dinner. I've enjoyed reading your blog about your travels! Hope you contiue to have a wonderful year full of memories to last a lifetime!
Hi, I am Mayumi, a next neighbor of Amy Franklin in KS. As you can tell by my name, I grew up in Japan. I very much enjoy your journal and photos about Japan through your vivid American eyes. Okonomiyaki is one of my favorites and sure made me homesick. I know that living in a different culture is just like riding a roller coaster. If you feel lost, confused or frustrated there, I have good friends in Tokyo who may be able to support you. Just contact me anytime. Ganbattene.
lotus leaves and ?tori stone lanterns I think those are lotus plants in the water - were there flowers with lots of petals, pastel colors, or seed pods with almost a cross section with holes in it? The stone things might be mock stone lanterns.
Wow!! I have now joined the millions who are blogging (or reading blogs). Now I see their value. You are doing a great job of keeping us informed. Stay safe. The girls miss you. I will show them all these great pics. love, amy
tampopo Looking at your bowl of ramen reminded me of a great movie you should try and rent while you're in Japan - Tampopo - all about the quest for the perfect bowl of ramen soup.
Molly!! Hi Molly, looks like you are having a wonderful time, it's all so interesting to read about. Annie just called b/c she was so excited to talk to you on the phone. And she gave me your travelblog site. Thanks for telling us all about it! Have a great semester, love Wendy
great photos It's wonderful to see all the views from your school, the street views, etc. We love it that you are a shutterbug. This blog is a good idea for all of us who miss you. xxoo
Hi Mol Hi Mol,
I got your e-mail with the address to this travel log of yours. Am I Internet savvy now or what? It's great to see your smiling face, if only in the pictures. Have fun,
love, dad
