Awesome chips! Hey Beth and Pierce!
It's Mark from Ho Chi Minh.
I was in Santiago last spring (well their fall) and enjoyed a bag of the same chips. I was amazed with how 'steaky' it tasted.
Great blog by the way. I found it going through old emails.
Hope all is well.
a dream come true Beth, I think you have wanted to swim with dolphins for ever...and now you have also had time with a beautiful shark! This is what memories are made of! Enjoy it!!
a non-food adventure.... After all that wonderful food you had earlier in your travels, no wonder you were so disappointed! Hot dogs were never one of your favorites so I can imagine how hard it was for you to even try one of those!
the joy of I have been teaching English conversation and basic grammar in McleodGanj since early December and will be here til mid-March...
the joy of laughing and learning with and from these people will stay with me always and I hear some of the same sentiments in your post...
Thank you for sharing your article with the world!

Sounds like a strange tourist initiation ritual, in combination with a visit to monkey hell. Maybe bamboo monkey whipping could become a sport on this island- although a more humane approach would be introducing a 'monkey interventionist' to work with the troubled monkeys. Wow, school psychology is rubbing off on me too much!
Powerful Wow, this is such a moving entry! It sounds like such intense place to visit. The dynamics of spirituality, war, and now regrowth is supercharged with emotion. I love that you ended it by talking about children, and the newness they bring to life :)
ahh...travel food.. HI Beth, All I can say is that Belgian horse meat shop does not seem so strange now...at least they cooked the meat! Can see why your stomach was a bit edgy during the holidays!
overwelmed I am so overwelmed with all that you are experiencing. Again, this should be documented in a travel magazine or guide book. CR and I were watching something recently on Nat. Geo. channel about Cambodia's floating cities and Angkor Wat. You have sparked my curiousity.......My best wishes, mama Teri
Career change Beth,
If you decide to change career paths, a mahout, is a great choice, you look like you would be a natural.
And yes, james bond, is cute.
Wow!! This is so incredible! As if your love for elephants needed any encouragement... :) What an amazing adventure! I'm so glad you decided to do this!!
What a fun adventure! I've got to compliment you on your ability to think on your feet, I never would've thought of the Grandma's house game. That's awsome :)
Celebrity I was wondering if they thought you were someone famous? Or is it that those indian boys wanted to show their friends their "western girlfriend"? LOL
ahh..games!! I think your choice of a game shows your natural instincts leading to learning and fun. Great choice! Bet the medicine man was really interesting.
Thanks to an incurable case of wanderlust (and the end of graduate school and the economy being in the pits), here we are...no jobs, no ties to Seattle, no apartment, and no commitments (not even a dog!) for the next several months while we travel the world. On this website, you will find tales from the road--read them if you have time (or maybe if you are bored at work) and make comments if you are so inclined. ... full info
