G'day everyone... as some of you are aware we are actually back home in Aus now, but forget that, I am going to wind you back to about one month ago when we were just starting our adventures in Equador... We are sitting here at Guayaquil airport… and we have 6 hours to kill.. Sarah booked us on a 6.45am flight out of Quito for our connection to Santiago which doesn’t leave until 2pm.. And the flight here took just 30 minutes. There were flights available every 30 minutes and I did try to reason with her but she is a little overcautious - in a mild understatement! But at least she is at ease and with a good night sleep behind her. Luckily we found a café with free Wi Fi so I should refrain ... read more

South America » Argentina April 21st 2008

Okey dokey lemon smokey, we are back in the writers chair! Right now we are in the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador.. It has been an enjoyable transition from chilly Patagonia to the tropical Galapagos which is bang on the equator! Out have come the sunnies & sunscreen and to the bottom of the pack , the thermals and fleeces! But anyways, nuff about the Galapagos, that will come a bit later, we need to let you know what we got up to down south, on our ‘end of the earth‘ tour! Patagonia is incredible.. One of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! And one that we must come back to as we only scratched the surface while there. We met our group in Buenos Aires to begin the tour, a nice ... read more

Hola peoples! We are back at it again, sorry to keep all you loyal fans waiting at the edge of your seats for over a month, but the wait is over, here is the next chapter! I hope you enjoy… We spent our first few days in Argentina in Buenos Aires…which is an absolutely beautiful city that we have completely fallen in love with. Actually….we have fallen in love with the whole country…definitely our favourite place and we will be coming back again! We stayed in a lovely part of the city called Palermo…full of charming bars and restaurants, beautiful parks and even dog walkers for the rich! Was pretty impressed by that actually...we saw one guy walking about 15 dogs and he even had one in his backpack!! It is definitely the place to live ... read more

South America » Brazil March 2nd 2008

G’day people.. It has been a little while, we missed you…really, we did, and I know that you missed us too! Well, here we are going to finish off updating you on Brasil because we are now in Argentina and have been for about a week or so… love Argentina by the way, we’ve already decided that we have to come back and spend a couple of months here when we can, not sure when that will be but… we’ll make it happen! ..although something that concerns me.. men kiss each other here, not on the lips but usually on both cheeks to greet each other… not sure if I could adapt!?! Anyway, after Buzios we spent 5 nights in Ilha Grande (Big Island, not a hard one to translate!), which we already visited on our ... read more

South America » Brazil » Rio de Janeiro » Rio de Janeiro February 18th 2008

Hola chicos… it’s good to be back informing all of you wonderful people about our travels again!! Well, Rio was an unbelievable experience with carnaval. The whole place becomes electrified during this time, there is so much going on you don’t have a chance to take it all in, you just have to go with what you can. We finished our tour in Rio with G.A.P on our first day of arriving so we had a nice dinner together and then went our separate ways, although agreeing to meet during the carnaval. Sarah and I moved from our extremely comfortable hotel to our not so comfortable hostel just down the road a few blocks in Copacabana, which was just 2 blocks from the beach. It was a bustling little place with loads of different travellers and ... read more

South America January 26th 2008

Apologies for not updating our blog for a while….3 weeks in fact. You may think we are just being slack but we have been a bit disheartened because we lost all our photos. Around 1000 photos gone….so upset. But we have grieved now and are moving on with our lives….thanking our lucky stars that we are still on the tour so we have been able to get copies of other peoples photos for all the places we have been. Not quite the same as having the photos of us…our new year’s kiss, us together at Machu Picchu, me holding Ben in my hand on the salt plains….but at least we have photos of those places and us within the group. But moving on. The last update we did was the jungle (last year!!) so what the ... read more

Well the jungle…what can i say?? I think firstly the most important thing...I am now known as Queen of the Pirahnas. Yep! Crowned by our jungle leader himself. Let me explain…. We went pirahna fishing in the Amazon Jungle (how cool does that sound!?). And I, Queen of the Pirahnas…or the Pirahna Queen if you prefer, caught the most pirahnas AND the biggest!!! Yep! Ben only caught one…but i caught 6 and i caught the biggest!! Did i mention that already? (insert your own gleeful little cackle here). Our jungle leader Ráphael (a.k.a Shrek) was most impressed…and seemed to be quite upset that we couldnt take them home with us, but alas we were fishing, quite illegally, in a nature reserve so we had to throw them back…and we couldn't mention anything to do with fishing ... read more

¡Hola chicos! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Hope you all had a splendid new year. Our second blog...the Inca Trail. We arrived into Cusco on an early flight from Arequipa and spent the afternoon exploring the city. It’s a nice place with lots of European influence with the architecture. It’s also a bustling tourist town as this is the launch pad for the Inca Trail, and more recently the jungle. There are also other Inca Ruins close to the City but do not have as much notoriety as Machu Picchu, the most famed and visited site in all of South America. Wandering around the narrow cobbled streets of Cusco was relaxing and could never become mundane, we visited different stores and made a few purchases whilst having fun haggling on price. After a while you can perfect this ... read more

Hi everyone!! Our first blog entry! We have been here for 2 weeks now and are finally getting around to writing it! Not slack...just busy. Now sit back and make yourselves comfortable, maybe grab a cup of tea, as we have a lot to catch up on. We started off our travels in Lima which, despite dire warnings of danger and boredom, we actually really enjoyed! We stayed at a hostel in Miraflores and our week was spent walking along the cliffs of the coast, exploring different neighbourhoods and we even managed to catch and movie and visit a Hooters! Yep, you heard me....Hooters. We did have a couple of bad cab experiences though...our first cab experience was taking a cab into central Lima to have a bit of a look around. I swear our cab ... read more
