I'm impressed I don't know whether to be more impressed by your adventurism -- travelling by bus for hours on end in a country where you don't even speak the language; going places I have barely heard of if at all, etc -- or by the excitement you express regarding all you have seen. We have also seen things here in South of France dating back a thousand years or so. The world is filled with wonders!
Whooh-hooh! I was just thinking of you guys, writing about Peru and El Misti yesterday. I am mightily impressed. Now, can I pay you to write all this up for my book?! *grin* Take care and enjoy the northern beaches. -- Sam
Your Personal Tour de Peru I am impressed. Not only cold, but 18000 ft without a week of acclimation! Nicholas was smart. Acute cerebral edema is fatal and headache may have been a warning sign. Sounds like you are having a fabulous trip.
We head out Friday morning, probably to Israel after France but the situation remains dicey.

Aghast You visited San Francisco and didn't stop to say hi? We're mortified...
Keep these dispatches coming. And can't wait for the animal snapshots...
wow! I’ve really enjoyed reading about your adventure thus far, and and you (Ben) thought the blog wouldn’t be interesting! Your pictures are going to be fantastic! You and Justin must have skipped the same “Avoiding Sunburns 101” course. Be careful and have fun with the turtles.
Howdi My goodness--to be young again---wait--no thanks---I keep my ressie's at the Ritz :):)
Sounds like a life experience---just dont come home with any new pets!
I recall in S Africa once at a reserve I left my wondow open and a spider monkey came in and jumped on me in the bed---I srceamed so loud you could hear me a country away!
Please tell Martina Happy Birthday for me!
We leave the 30th for Italy/Greece cruise---ralph and I are renewing our vows!!!! All the family going----stateside and S. Africa side.
I love this blog idea---what a great way to share your trip!!! I can actually picture it!
See ya
Are you having fun? From your comments it sounds like you are in bootcamp. I hope after all the wet shoes, cramped cabins, food poisoning, and stolen money you and Martina are having a good time. The frogs sound cool. Stay away from the blue ones. They taste bad and are poisonous. But they are really good for downloading bit-torrents. (Sorry, bad computer humor). Stay safe and have a wonderful rest of your vacation. And happy b-day Martina!
All in the family Well, I guess we now know for sure that our family is prone to pick- pocketing. Pick-pockets and mosquitoes. Maybe they are attracted by a common pheromone. That really sucks. I'm glad you were able to stay positive after starting off on the wrong foot. The volcano sounds awesome. I'm jealous of all the hiking you are doing.
Safe travels and have fun in Montverde (wherever that is!)
