In 2008 I took a year out from my real life to go and see a bit of the world and spend a bit more time with my wife and ten year old daughter. For a detailed account of our trip you can find my full blog at http://www.travelswithbaggage.blogspot.com/, though over the coming months I have decided to re-run the blog in the original sequence on this site.

Since I returned to the UK in 2009 I have been working in London, that is until the end of February at which point I retired (again!) and now am a free agent to once again have a go at travelling, though for our new adventures there will predominantly only be me and my wife as our Daughter who was 10 back in 2008 is the last of our three children to leave home, but last September she did and is now enjoying university in Plymouth.

I last made a post on this site in 2009, at the time I was in Fiji in the middle of a trip around the globe. In the last 8 years I have returned to the UK, returned to work and now just retired again, I therefore thought it would be a good time for me to repost the variety of posts that I made whilst travelling, my daughter also completed a video diary which I will put up on You Tube, though a number of the videos need a bit of tidying up. It is our last day in Fiji, we have now been travelling since last September, I know a bit late to be starting a blog, but I have to confess that this is not the start, I just thought I would add a post a summary of each destination we visit to a travel dedicated site. Northern American States Part 1 In 2008 we spent three months in the USA in preparation for our longer trip, 7 months on a ticket to fly around the globe. The majority of the time in the USA was spent in Florida, however we spent three weeks in the middle of it up in the northern states, this is the first leg of that Journey. On October 18th we flew from Orlando to Newark, from there we hired a car and drove the seven hours up to Niagara Falls, we stayed on the Canadian side of the falls in the Sheraton on the Falls hotel, very comfortable!
