Packing Tips Hello!
I will be in Addis Ababa for 10 months. I see that you have been there for an extended time as well. Any suggestions on what to pack? Thanks!
What to pack Hey Kelly, Sorry I didn't see your message earlier, I would pack waterproof shoes, an umbrella and a raincoat if you're going to be there during the rainy season. Most people worse sandals, I preferred tennis shoes or closed toed shoes because I walked around a lot. Most people dress like westerner's but a little more formal and conservative. I don't know what you'll be doing there, but I hope this helped at least a little bit. Good Luck! Hope you have a great time!
Another Great Blog, Alyssa! Hi Alyssa,
We were so happy to hear from you. Looks like you are doing great. Love the pix! I can tell from your wonderful attitude that you are and will make a great difference there. Thanks for being a part of the Cherokee Gives Back team!
So, if you learn Amharic, that'll be five languages you speak? Non e vero? (English, Brazillian :), Italian, French and Amharic). Mama mia! Look out INSEAD!
Take care. We'll look forward to checking in on you. Love, John and Linda
Proud of you... The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full ligh of day...prov 4-18... one day I wanna sit down and talk to you and enjoy all the beautiful life experiences!! God bless you always!<3
I too have a grandfather from Irsina. My father visited in the early sixties and I hope to go there one day. Our family name is Caserto.
Does anyone know about any Caserto's from Irsina?
house in Irsina Hello,
We bought a house in Irsina from Leonardo Zienna an architect who lives in Irsina. He renovated the house completely and verry cheap. If you want to buy something don't do it via an agency they ask the double for it. We come from belgium and we have an other Belgian friend who has a house in Irsina. We hope a lot off people follow us to Irsina it is so beautifull we love it.
Niki
Irsina blog Yes of course you are right. Thank you.
The address is www.irsinaexpats.blogspot.com. Not blogspace - guess I was too excited but if anyone wants to speak to an English speaking resident of Irsina, this is how you contact us.
Correct link The link you posted didn't work for me so I found another one that lead me to your site, here it is: http://irsinaexpats.blogspot.com/2010/06/start.html
happy blogging!

I tried Marinobus but it's not clear to me even with translating on-line.
I just want to go somewhere different but about an hour or so out of Irsina but not Bari because I will have come from there off the plane
New windows now fitted and waiting for water to be put in - should be by the end of January. Am in the process of getting payment made to get the property rendered. Soon be time for a road trip!
Then will arrange for a wood burner.
Irsina and the statue My Mother was born in Irsina but was brought to America when she was 4. She had no memory of the place where she was born. She is gone now, in fact today is the date that she passed away. I always try to spend the day thinking about her. Too bad computers were not available before she passed. I'm sure she is watching what I'm doing and seeing her birthplace, and learning a little bit about it. Thank You for making this possible for me.
Sorry it took me so long to accept comments. I am so glad you are enjoying your houses in Irsina, it is truly a lovely little city! Best Wishes, Alyssa
Very happy Forget what I last posted as it is not showing but our house is lovely, if I say so myself. Am getting some extra work doen - new front door, rendering etc - so far the door has been installed - really nice job by local joiner. Very happy with the whole experience.
Finished Tricali House Yes our home is finished as we closed in April 2008 and have had five holidays in Irsina already!! What did you want to know. The house was fine, basic but liveable, it is now up to us to fine tune it over the next few years. Please do not be afraid of this concept as there really is no risk involved.
What we do need is an official Irsina blog so that people either living in Irsina or with a link to it can chat.
Finished property When we were out in October we saw around a few finished properties - although basic they were to a very high standard. While you have no choice regarding fixtures and fittings thay are similar to IKEA or Habitat in style. In one house Tricali had sources special wiring to suit its character. They do try to reuse existing floor tiles etc and refurbish them to, in my opinion, a nearly"as new standard". Wiring is done over the wall - makes it far easier to customise when you move in. We should get posession of our house in mid June. You can get a photo CD of properties in various states of repair from www.eachpropertymed.co.uk. You can also see finished property on youtube - type in Isrina blue sky - not our house by the way. There are videos of this property before and after. Worth a look if you are interested. Hope this is of use. I really have to saw that Tricali have been exceptionally helpful and professional throughout the whole process.
