Well, it's been a while. My only excuse is that I really haven't had a chance to update the blog because I've been enjoying myself a bit too much. Seems fair enough to me. Anyway, think the last time I checked in was in Brisbane so I shall tell you my story from there. After I left mike's I went down to Surfer's Paradise for a day where I took a surfing lesson for a couple of hours and spent the rest of the day working on my tan! The next day I moved on down to Byron Bay and I really loved it there. It was quite a small little place but was really relaxed. No one was in a hurry and I just chilled out for most of the time i was there. I ... read more

Hi all, I hope you're enjoying your bank holidays! I've been in Brisbane for a couple of days now, staying with a friend of mine who I met when I was studying in Germany. It's actually been a really nice relaxed couple of days. As I'm sure you can tell, I've pretty much been on the go since I left home. Before arriving in Brisbane, I was on the trip to Fraser Island which was wonderful. I expect the pictures will show you more than I can tell you but the island is made entirely from sand so we saw lots of beautiful beaches and some freshwater lakes and creeks. The weather was beautiful except when were on a beach that rather reminded me of Trebarwith Strand and the rain definitely helped with that impression (my ... read more

Hi all. Not too much to report since last time. I joined my boat tour on Saturday afternoon and we all walked out to the boat which was called the Atlantic Clipper. The first thing that caught my attention was the water slide! We headed out towards the Whitsunday Islands and stopped for the night near Hook Island. Our dinner was hake with mashed potato and coleslaw, yum. We spent the evening getting to know the rest of the people on the boat (and as there was 36 people there were plenty to get to know). The next morning we were awoken by the crew shouting at us at 6:30 am. After breakfast we took the small boats that were being dragged behind the Clipper to the beach (no I don't know what they're properly called ... read more

Hello again! Well I arrived safely in Cairns early on Tuesday morning and got a transfer to my hostel, Gilligans. I was sharing a room with 7 other people but this was more than made up for by the fact that the hostel was right in the centre of town, had it's own swimming pool, bar and club and the people in my room were really friendly. I went out for lunch with Andy, someone I met on the Cambodia tour and then sunbathed for most of the afternoon (fortunately I managed not to burn this time which was rather nice). I had dinner in the hostel and then went out for the night. On the Wednesday, I had booked myself on a boat trip out to the Barrier Reef to do some snorkelling which was ... read more

Okay so I have been a little rubbish on the updates. I can only apologise but I have been squeezing an awful lot of touristing in! After I finished the tour in Bangkok, I said goodbye to all the amazing people I had met on the tour and took a spontaneous trip down to Krabi in the South West of Thailand. I spent two days there with some friends I had made in Ho Chi Minh City and I had a lovely relaxed two days spent on the nearby beaches and islands. The seas and islands were truly beautiful and the whole thing was so relaxing that I managed to fall asleep in the sun and burn even with SPF 30 cream on. Woops. I left Krabi on Wednesday morning and flew back to Bangkok and ... read more

So much to tell you about! Sorry it's been a while but things got pretty crazy busy on the tour. I can't believe ten days of it have gone by already. So to continue where I left off, we got the bus to Phnom Pehn and didn't get there until the evening so not much to report from that day. The next day in the morning we went to the Cambodian Genocide Museum and to the killing fields where the bodies of over 20,000 Cambodians killed during the Khmer Rouge regime were found in mass graves. It was a horrific experience - I can't hide that and I did cry at one point learning about how terrible everything that happened was but nevertheless I was glad to have gone and to have learnt a little more ... read more

Hello yet again. Today I'm writing from an internet café in Sihanoukville on the South coast of Cambodia. On Monday we left Chau Doc and drove around an hour to the VietnamCambodia border. We had to get out of the bus with all our belongings and walk over the border, collecting our visas and having a health check with the Doctor. After another 4 hours we arrived in Sihanoukville. The place was just lovely, we went and had lunch at a restaurant directly on the beach and then explored some of the local shops before heading back to the beach for the evening. We had a few drinks and went swimming in the sea. While we were swimming, a thunderstorm started and it was an absolutely amazing experience to be in the sea with the pouring ... read more

Hello everyone, Thank you so much for my lovely birthday messages, it´s been really nice to hear from you all and to have your well wishes. :) Yesterday I slept in late as I was actually sleeping well and then I went for a walk around Ho Chi Minh City. I went to the war museum and the reunification palace. After wandering back through the market and the parks, I went to the hotel where my tour was starting, met my room mate and had the welcome meeting. After that I went out for dinner with some friends I had made the day before and then we went swimming in the pool of a five star hotel (We weren´t staying there but no one stopped us!!). I then went for some drinks and had a very ... read more

Hi again! Sorry if the writing goes a little dodgy, the vietnamese keyboard í doing weird things to the english language! I arrived here in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday and took a taxi to my Guesthouse- Thanh Thuong in the backpacker district òf Ho Chi Minh City. I went out for some dinner after settling in and had szechuan chicken (possibly dodgy spelling) which ưas delicious. Today I took a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels which were used by the Vietnamese people during the war. They were fascinating but so warm to walk through. Just so hot - about 35 degrees today. The video we watched at the beginning ò the tour was incredibly biased against the 'horrible' americans and told how they all got awards for killing americans but was very interesting ... read more

Hello all! Well as you can probably tell, I arrived in Bangkok safely. I got my taxi back to the hostel on Monday (having had to wait 45 minutes for it due to traffic) and pretty much fell asleep straight away. Which meant I woke up at 3 am and watched BBC world news for several hours but I guess that's how it goes sometimes. On Tuesday I got up and had breakfast at the hostel before going to the Bus Terminal and catching a bus to Ayuthaya (about 86km away, 1.5 hour bus journey and cost me about 1.10 pounds). There I found a guesthouse which looked pretty nice and got a room for about 6 pounds. The main disadvantage was that there was no air con so I had another pretty rough night's sleep. ... read more
