Thanks for the photos.. I was also in Rishikesh from the 16th Dec 2007 and attented a couple of Arties with the Journey group.

aaahh the same tour! just wanted to say i did the same tour! Mine started on Nov 3 and went through the 17th. Fun to see same tour. my blogs coming soon! Happy travels!
Nice images & 1 good observation I liked your blog. The images are very nice. i especially liked the one with the title..Looking over Kathmandu.
I happen to be from Varanasi. In hindus its believed that if you have your last las breath in varanasi then you are sure to reach heaven. I have been a part of many cremations of my old family members and one of your observations about cremations caught my notice. You have written about death being a part of life and not being as gruesome as expected. its quite true and one of the traditions in some hindus involves celebrating the death of elderly..cherishing the fact that he lived a fulsome life.
Your observation is remarkable because it comes from a person who is not used to the ways of hindus.

volunteering Hi I just wanted to pick your brains about volunteering in borneo. I am keen to go next year but am a bit undecided as to where.
Sepilok looks great but touristy and expensive, but my other choice was matang in sarawak which doesn't house as many orangutans and I think you don't get as much contact with them.
Did you get much hands on contact ie feeding babies etc.
Did you do any fundraising to help with costs?
Do you get days to visit the rest of sabah/ borneo?
I would really appreciate your response. Thanks
julie
Great Photos Hi Anita
Absolutely love your photos. I was fortunate enough to be in last year's June/July placement and loved every bit of it, the photos bring back some lovely memories! Karina
Cream teas! I hope they were proper ones with Cornish Clotted Cream, Tiptree Raspberry Jam, sour milk scones and English Breakfast Tea!
(I dont like Strawberry Jam.)
Take Care
Bananas Hi Anita, Interesting - I thought everybody ate bananas that way.
There is a lot of hanging around going on by them OO's. No wonder they have arms and fingers like that.
Great pics.
Take care.

Hi, welcome to be my Travelblog capturing my experiences as I head of for pastures new - well jungles, mountains and deserts to be precise! I have decided it is time to live that dream I have had for many years and so finally took the plunge; left my job, rented out my house and heading off to Borneo to spend 2 months helping rescued Orang-utans at Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. After this amazing experience I will see some more of Malaysia before heading on to Nepal and India. I don't know what the journey holds but here is where you will find out.
