stay well! hi there. we don't know each other. However, I was in Ghana in 2008 as a student and when I would create my own blog posts, your picture would show up in a group of other current bloggers. Anyway, this evening I was growing nostalgic of my Ghana time, logged back onto my blog, clicked the Ghana link to check out the new obrunis, and noticed that you were still blogging Ghana. "Holy Cow," I thought, "Dude has been in Ghana for a long time." So, I clicked on your latest blog to see what you were doing. Long story short, I can't wait to find the time to read through some of your experiences. After volunteering in some schools in Accra I decided to get my secondary English teaching certification, and am in the last month of my student teaching. My students here love hearing about students in Ghana. Anyway, don't feel like you have to respond, just wanted to let you know that I found your blog and was thankful. Stay well.
neat I randomly came across your blog while searching for the spelling of Afehyia Pa. The woman that lives with my grandma is from Ghana and is teaching me a few phrases. One day I hope to visit her in Ghana when she goes home! It's neat to read about someone's experiences there, especially since you participate in everything includint church. It must be so interesting to see catholicism from a Ghanian perspective.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Drew, I enjoy your blog and the insight into another culture. Jody and I are at Anthony Fioretti's wedding in Sun Valley this weekend. A lot of your soccer pals are here. Quite a contrast to your holidays. We are proud of you and look forward to more blogs and your eventual return to this home.
Hey, Hey! Sounds like you have been busy and had a great Thanksgiving! Man you missed some funny stories from Sarah's first homemade Thanksgiving. You will have to have her describe cooking a turkey and what comes out of the inside of a turkey prior to cooking...I am still laughing just thinking about it ;o) Don't know if I told you, but Dylan is getting ready for his 1st Sacraments. He has his Recconciliation in January and 1st Communion at Easter. It has been a ton of fun going to classes with him...great refresher on our faith! We miss you and hope you are doing well! The boys are very anxious for you to come home...they ask about you every day. Oh, I am starting back at the bank on Monday. I got offered a great part time job at Chase, so no more traveling to Lake Stevens for work. K, I could go on forever...love you and hope to talk to you soon!!! ~ Melissa
Poor Mouse!!! Well I hope you gave that little guy a proper burial! I'm glad that you feel a little bad regarding his demise. I am also glad that you thoroughly cleaned your bucket!
Glad to hear about Ghana's U-21 men's team beating Brazil! I hate shoot outs... Glad you had someone to go crazy with!
Are there going to be anymore inter-house competitions? Hopefully your teams will do better if there are. I bet you'll be glad when you can start teaching again. Hopefully that will be very soon.
Thanks for keeping us up to date with your blog. Talk to you soon... Love, Mom
How are you doing Dear Andrew,
How are you doing now that Sarah is married and you are back at school?
I've been really busy helping to open a new hospital and trying to keep up with my other projects.
We will get to see Jenny for Thanksgiving.
Love ya!
Yipee! I can't believe you are going to be home in just a few more days! We are so excited to see you. Great job on getting all your grades done and in. You must be a great teacher if 218 of your students grades went up in Term 3!!! Sorry not coming for Christmas, but hopefully I will be there in April :o) If I don't talk to you before you leave for home, have a safe couple of flights!!!
Love ya and see ya soon.....
I can't wait to see your video! It really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, no matter what your politics are. It's so cool Andrew, and all of my co-workers talked about it for days. :) I got to hang out with baby Cameron last night. He's just over 3 weeks old now and looking around a lot. His hair is turning auburn (??), but his eyes are still blue. He makes me smile. I can't wait for you to meet him next month. Can you believe that it's almost time for you to come home?! Glad your lizards are doing well and the mouse is gone (for now). Take care, and I'll talk to you soon. :)
Mandy
Hi Andrew Ok -- I love your animal stories. I am with you about the mouse -- yuk!!! Although I hope your lizard decides to leave on its own. Mandy forward me the photo of you meeting the President -- WOW -- that will be quite a story. I want to hear all about it when you get home next month! Take care, we love and miss you! -------Annie
HMM WELL YOU HAVE A GOOD WRITING,

i *heart* ghana animal stories kill the mouse. mice are disgusting creatures and they carry hanta virus. i love the lizards though. hopefully the one in your pipe won't die... :S
i'm glad you got a cheeseburger on the 4th. it seems very appropriate. can't wait to see your pictures from your adventure to meet president obama.
all is well here. cameron is doing great - he met the whole fam last night. he did really well (aka - slept the whole time) and is too cute. i love him! :)
it's about time you posted. :) all is well here - you likely know that from facebook. i imagine the way people in ghana deal with a bit of rain is the way we deal with a bit of snow - everything shuts down. take care andrew - see you in a few months.
btw- congrats on your 1-year anniversary!!
Way to go!!! One year...wow I can't believe how fast it has gone! You have experienced some amazing and crazy things over the last year. It has been alot of fun following your blog...thanks for sharing and keeping us all informed while you have been gone. Dylan and Connor are really excited for you to come home in August. The want to show you their new pet! Connor was wondering if Spike's poop is the same as the poop that your little lizards are leaving around your room? Boys...I swear you all are facinated poop, farts, and burps ;o)
Love ya ~ Melissa
Asare Bediako My school, Asare Bediako Senior High School, was named after the chief of Akrokerri in the Ashanti Region in Ghana, and he passed away 8 years ago. I'm pretty sure this was a different person. The name Asare Bediako is extremely common and we currently have at least 2 students at the school with the name.
Confirmation Please I want to confirm if this Mr Azare Bediako was a teacher in Nigeria in the late 70's. I used to have a teacher by that name in my primary school days and have been looking forward to meeting him or hearing from him. Anyone who could confirm this to me should please reach me on this e-mail address, larryshood@yahoo.com.
Thanks all.
your lizard updates make me smile. sounds like you're keeping busy - i bet time will fly by until your trip home.
baby cameron is due in about four weeks...we're all anxiously awaiting his arrival! :)
Hey, Hey... Sounds like you are pretty busy over there!!! So in reading this post to the boys I had to explain to them what "Turd" meant. Thanks for that...Connor thinks it is a funny word!!! They love your stories on your lizzards. They wanted to know if you saw the pictures of our Tree Frogs? Connor thinks you should have left him in your bathroom so you could've had a pet ;o)
Love ya and can't wait to see you in August!!!
Batteris First, no that doesn't sound ignorant. I wouldn't have too much difficulty finding batteries in my market town, Obuasi. The batteries are likely to be expensive and of poor quality through. Lets just hope my Duracells hold out for as long as possible.
congrats on getting your kente cloth! i'm glad you found a better alternative to the original. sounds like it'll be a slow week for you...stay out of trouble. :P are batteries hard to come by in Ghana (apologies if that sounds insanely ignorant). take care andrew!
I love the picture of you in your Kente cloth! I hope you bring it home so we can get a better look at it. I love the note that was left for you...reminds me of the letter we read at Christmas :) Glad to hear things are going well!
Miss you
Get facebook... Jonathan, thanks for the birthday note. Here is a suggestion though, why don't you join the rest of us in the 21st century and get a facebook account.
