welcome back Gosh.. i simply type the word "Pakan" in google to see anything appeared and your photo of "Jimmy" and our big concrete durian seems to appeared on the first page. I clicked at it and great to see your journey especially the unexpected journey to Pakan. For your info, it is my hometown but currently stay at KL. You should explore more at pakan and go to longhouses.. see their lifestyle and taste their delicious local food.. who knows one day you will be back..

Most impressed! Dear Gillian,
...not only with the photography but with the commentary too. You obviously got so much out of your visit.
Thankyou for sharing it.

Great blog entry Except for your airport experience, Quito sounds wonderful. Very informative blog entry and enjoyable reading too. Glad your trip went smoothly after that bumpy start.
Two hour a-glued..... OK...maybe there isn't such a word as a-glued, but I have been sitting here on this hard stool for hours reading your blog posts from the past two years and I feel like I have seen another side of you. I had not read but a fraction of these before and once I deciphered how to see all the pictures I was hooked.
Perhaps you should just become a travel writer full time and invite friends like me to join you on your trips. Although I do feel very fortunate to have traveled with you in Cambodia and Vietnam.
Good work on this travel blog! You are awesome.
Tis a shame.... No wonder you have been acknowledged as a star on this website.....you pics and commentary is great.....filled with tidbits of local history and local color.
Galapagos Enjoyed the account. I am still wondering how to connect with the Galapagos. It is like an experiment on the edge of the universe, so unusual that it is difficult to think about what it has to do with everyday life
Tortoise and the Hare If you were able to move in and capture a tortoise that size, what ever would one do with it? It would not fit inside any terrarium I would care to clean.
Hiking boots on a cruise; not two things you would put readily together but yet you still had a marvelous time.
Monkey Shines I make sure to always show your spectacular photos to the grandkids and tell of your journeys, but every time they see the cute little monkeys, they want ME to go there and bring them back one or two We all like to go along with you on your travels, monkeys or no monkeys.
Wow!!! Trite but apt title! The Galapagos is one of those places the very idea of which resonates for me! Its history (the Darwin connection especially), its isolation and its ever-changing configuration makes it very special. I'm glad you thought Enchanted (or was it Magical?) Islands was the best name.
Loved your photos - especially the frigate birds. Those are wonderful shots.
to Guenter You´ve seen all the good ones already ... but always happy to show off! Supposed to be home on Sunday, but we´ll see if that happens or not.
To Subhash Just call a cycle rickshaw anywhere in Bodh Gaya and tell them you want to visit the Mahakala Caves. I recall the trip took half a day, so it wasn´t that far.
to Ali So happy you find them worth the effort ... in another few months we may be looking at the La Guajira (sp?) ones together and recalling a different desert. Just about to load my Galápagos pics while I wait to see if Quito airport reopens in time for me to make my flight!
Memories! I made a friend who had recently done a similar trip to ours, so decided to revisit your blog. Thanks for recording such great memories, ma! Love you xxx
hey there senora! enjoyed your travel blogs especially this one....a lot like costa rica was for me only less tourists and ideal as well....i bet your spanish is very good by now....dont blog much anymore...i am writing fiction for a novel based in prague...all my solo creativity is directed there....still painting, being a therapist, but stopped teaching for a bit.....doing my own things...enjoying life...have a hot french lover to meet in paris soon....life goes on....will be 60 next year....just looking forward as usual....safe travels and more experiences my friend....love and light...bellarina
