Amazing work - and the first of it\'s kind! What a tremendous impact to save on firewood. Incredible changes you helping make in the world!!!! :D GO JEN!
WHAT ! ! I thought you (Jen, anyway) was a little crazy--now I am sure....I must admit it looks VERY EXCITING !
I did have a problem seeing the baby in the picture--was she/he along for the ride?????????
"Aunt" Rosie
Too cute!! That's my daughter! The race car driver!! Thanks for sharing this event with us with such detail and humor. What a wonderful experience! These will be memories that will last a lifetime for you two.
3rd World Glad to see y'all are taking your 3rd World experience in an adventurous frame of mind. I always took my own alcoholic potables with me whenever I ventured away from the city of Ubon ... one can never be TOO PREPARED.
Queen Hatshepsut I did a project on Queen Hatshepsut in 6th grade where I had to dress up and pretend I was her. I've heard very little about her since and am really happy to know that other people know she exists because everybody in elementary school just thought I was crazy.
Sounds like you are having a great time as usual. So happy your having such great adventures!!
I really enjoyed your post about Edfu and Philae Island Temples, etc. Your cruises sounds like fun! I haven't been to Egypt yet but I hope to go soon. My blog is looking for travel photos, reviews, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Continued fun on your travels!

Very cool pics As the ancient Egyptians once said, "A beautiful thing is never perfect." You're seeing sights most of us will never see in a lifetime except through film. Thanks for sharing your pictures and thoughts so we can enjoy Egypt vicariously and imagine being there ourselves.
Thanks Hi Jen and Alex,
We got your reply and bookmarked the blog again. Don't have a clue as to where it went? Kate's in Kahului at the moment
shopping so she'll be real happy to hear we're in contact with you two again. I loved the eatery review. Sounds like if you're hungry when you head out you might want a snack to tide you over until the food arrives? I'm now convinced I could live there since you mentioned pizza three times and calzone once. This puts it on a level playing surface with Soldotna sans Papa Murphy's. I'm sure each day is another adventure for you. Enjoy!

i love this post. mostly this: "The goat carcass was hanging in the kitchen window."
Also, who needs Smirnoff Ice when you could have Nestle instant coffee???
Yum! Goat Kababs As they say, life is short. Eat goat meat while you have the chance. By the way, what do you do for 2-3 hours while they are out slaughtering your meat and cooking it? That's a heckuva long happy hour.
what fun golly, it sounds like your social life is full. One question , New Years was three couples and the marines!! what does that mean--how many marines do you have?? were they there in social mode or protection?
anyway it all sounded like fun, busy enough so you kids couldn't have been too lonesome.
Where in the world is your car!! bet someone thinks it drives really good!
Ole says Hi, he and Belle just returned from our first speedy kicksled jaunt down the road. no snow, frozen road makes for wild rides.

Ha, ha-- blue balled monkeys! Sounds like another great adventure! I LOVE reading about your time there so please keep blogging. Hope the gorilla job came through for you!
Gum? I assume all kids like gum, but it's a luxery I don't think many people can afford. The local gum here seems to last for about two minutes before it loses its flavor (banana, raisen, black current, eucalyptus).
catchup Oooooh! I've forgot about this for a while because i don't have a reader, so i just read the last couple of entries. Do the kids there like gum? Anyway, this is super fun to read and i hope you guys keep updating it forever. Imma send it to heidi and my parents.
