Landrover heaven I imagine that your Land rover does not have the personality problems that mine did. It would completely stop all electrical activity EVERY time it rained in NJ. No starting, no running, no moving until fixed.
Love your adventuring!
Concrete Jungle Somehow your travels seem more exciting than the concrete jungle here... oh yeah and our wildlife.. Deven and Donia. ha.. Enjoying reading your tales.. keep them coming! and Have Fun!!!
ditto on the earlier crocs comment. but WOW, what an amazing journey... i would say i'm jealous but it takes a bigger woman than me to deal with some of the mishaps you've had along the way... (YAY SARAH!)
nice adventures Great adventures! Love your photos of the desert, particularly the abandoned house in the desert. Someone once had dreams there and worked hard, only to give it up. Looks like it could be from a novel about desperation. And Sarah in the bathtub-- lovely. All africans speaking German -- that's wild!
The Dream Well Alex, Your certainly living the dream now! Your tales are great, your pictures are inspiring. Thanks for sharing your journey with the rest of us living the monotonous existence in babylon. Of course, you know you are making us all rather envious!
Nice adventures Dude, swimming with dolphins is so cool -- they charge mega bucks in Hawaii to do that! And some of those waves indeed look very nice for surfing. Cowabunga!
Metric Mania dude, you're missing out on all the fun back at work! Measurable metrics. We're now going to be judged on Hits, Bests, Corrects and scoops and we have set targets for each of those. I bet you're sorry you missed out. No end of croc-spots could compensate missing this experience!
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Alex, this is hilarious.
I just discovered your blog, tx to facebook, and decided to begin at the beginning....loving it so far.
Au revoir, Cleone! Does this mean you will finally shave and get your hair cut, man? Put a shirt on while you're at it. Enjoy Africa! Can't wait to see more!
Kind of sad that the sailing leg is over... On the other hand there are probably many more adventures waiting for you on the African continent.
Is it just an impression or is your barb orange ;-)
Take care, Martin
ummmm Alex,
Fascinating! Great writing practice for travel stories in the New York Times!
But the book contract will be put on hold until we can read juicy tidbits about you, your friends and your adventures? We need CONFLICT! Antagonist, Protagonist!
Cheers, Your friend. Peter
PS, we're going to Ischgl Jan. 25-31. We''ll spend 3 days at Ischgl, probably a day at Galtur/Kappl and 3 days at St. Anton.

Too much time behind a desk. Too much time with techmology. Too much time dreaming of other places. Too much time surfing the Internets looking at photos of places that inspire. Too much time wanting to be psyched. So how is there not enough time? Mr. Earle's reply: “This is the best time of the day, the dawn, the final cleansing breath unsullied yet by acrid fumes or death’s cacophony, the rank refuse of unchained ambition.”
After spending too much time doing the aforementioned, he realized he was a dull boy. He changed his mind, he ch... full info
