Russia is a big country
Is there much English spoken? Glad you sorted out the train timetable. Yellow seems popular with railway stations. Glad you are well and enjoying the trip.

Some people speak a little English but its not widely spoken or understood. The sign are all in Cyrillic alphabet and so unreadable for us of an English background. Other that that its a breeze to get around

Love those cups Cassandra. How spoilt are you that your parents would carry those for weeks in their luggage! We look forward to being invited around to 'tea'. Enjoy those 19 minutes train stops J & A

The Train Wreck Red
What can one say about a Cabernet Savigon of unknown origin bought on chinese train. it was a sweet wine with little bouquet except a slight hint of diesel and neeedd a lot of air before drinking. In the end we donated the remaining halve to the train staff.

Hello from windy Sydney
Keep up the good blogging and photos, we're enjoying your trip. How is the food on the train? Do you sleep on the train when you have an overnight stay? Love Ross and Julianne

The low down on the train
The food was average chinese backstreet fare. Nothing you'd want want to eat except with there was nothing else available. once we crossed into Mongolia we got a new dining car and the quality rose dramatically. We slept well once they stopped playing with the carriages and the immigration was finished but that was 2am

sydney town
Weather much the same here - no I lie it is now cold and sunny. We have just had lunch with Christine, IS who has been staying with Ricky. Ricky has been running some training sessions with various staff and partners. Christine is an impressive lady who I think does a very hard job. Yesterday I unpacked the kiln and have a studio full of pots that look pretty nice (even if I do say so). I need to put together 25 pieces for India by Friday so it may be a busy week. During the firing the nights got down to 0 degrees. I have never been so cold out at the farm. We all huddled around the kiln even when it warmed slightly. The first day was very windy and nasty but after the wind dropped the days were beautiful - clear and sunny. Looking forwards to how the train trip unfolds. Barb
