CONGRATS congrats guys - really happy to hear you're finally making Nic an honest lass Al!!
Looking forward to celebrating with ya when you get back to london. x
PS am now going to have to start planning a trip to africa - you've inspired me...
Schistosomiasis Very interesting condition - the worms require 2 hosts - humans and snails (Moist, this means you).
There is no vaccine.
BUT.
There is a drug which when inject into the bloodstream will kill the blighters.
In the meantime, watch out for haematuria (aka red wine coloured wee).
Carry on chaps
Bilharzia Hey guys - so very jealous re. your adventures. Keep the blogs coming. Just thought I would share my Bilharzia experiences - had contact in both Africa (Milawi) and Egypt but the local pills are often really dodgy. You have 3 months to get treated from contact and it is best to do it here in London - it is free if you go to your GP and then get tested and treated (if necessary). In fact you are best to wait 6 - 8 weeks before getting tested as it can take this long to show up in your blood.
Enjoy the rest of your trip! Sheree
Hey hey Hi there team,
Sounds like a winners being had by all, Gold coast was brilliant, made a compulsory donation to the casino and Lisa and Andrews apartment that we stayed in was top shelf. Thanks again for the bday phone call (was still a tad chopped on rum n cokes from the night before) and im lovin reading all ya blog updates- Take it easy crew! Steve
Sleeping Rough? Nics - it sounds like you fullas are truly sleeping rough now that you've managed to get your bedding stolen but at least the pina colada blankie should protect you some :) White water rafting sounds fantastic - just leave those worms behind!
sleeping stuff What the hell are you using for sleep mats etc now?....Please don't tell me you thought you'd stay close to the ants and not bother with one!! xx
Green I have the green eyed monster going on guys, truly sounds like the trip of a life time. Be pleased for us as the drought here has broken, and we finally have the rain that we so needed, all the dams are full of water, and so is most of the towns in the north.
Having a shower Hey Dont forget, that my dad may be willing to let you shower at his whilst ur in Zambia....Good luck at the vic falls xxxxx
p.s miss u Nic
Greetings... Sounds like you're both getting a comprehensive look at raw Africa although you'd need a few Warrior bottle beers to hook up with a giraffe wouldn't you?
Loving all the yarns. Look forward to the next installment.
Currently at the Sailing World Champs in Portugal, went out on a media boat yesterday and quickly realised its definitely not like sailing with a rich mate "Ralph Lauren polo advertisement" style. Two Russians had to be taken back to shore - their incessant barfing was deemed too disruptive. These amateur sailors are amazing athletes though and probably with IQs and salaries the polar opposite to your average "ugby" player.
Will we catch you in London at any stage? We're back mid-July and also early August.
Cheers,
The Aldersons.
i wish you hadnt given the game away that im up the duff! glad you're having a wonderful time im obviously very very jealous. and stop losing stuff dammit!
dont rub it in. wowsers, your pickies are amazing! but im not jelous at all. we saw a giraffe in the corrifor just now. i dont have any pictures cos i didnt have a camera with me. blast!

You lucky b'stards Hey guys, I cannot put in words how much I envy you right now. It sounds like you're having an absolute ball.
Awesome photos, I have to ask what camera you're shooting with (sorry can't help myself). Keep safe and keep the blogs coming, I'm loving them in a masochistic, jealous sort of way. Cheers Bevo
NZ on the back foot I know you 2 wont know what day of the week it is, but its 4.36pm CET time - Saturday arvo here too and all about NZ sports. Sadly we're lagging behind in both the TriNations and America's cup. Jetlag and our sailors are spread tooooo widely afield - but we know who the true winners are. World Cup on the horizon. Dont think of us - WE'RE all on your trail, waiting for your nxt update
Daktari Rides Again Hi Guys. I sent a comment through before but not sure if it got thru so I'll make this brief. What a great trip! One could say verging on life changing. You could end up stuck there looking after orphaned Primates - an Out of Africa moment shall we say. Keep the photo's coming - great inspiration to get of our preverbials and go travelling again. Harlo.
Fantastic news and photos this is much more fun that sending you txt's !!! Shocking news about your suitcase Nic - my unaccompanied luggage has also gone walkabouts - in Singapore - per kind favour of Singapore Airlines. You'll find some fashionable garments in the markets (!) So enjoying your journals and your SOH and know you're both having amazing experiences. sml
