re: Kyoto in Films Yes, you would be sadly dissapointed. More McDonalds than Geishas around here! In fact, the city in "Bladerunner" was actually based on East Shinjuku in Tokyo (this is a part with lots of skyscrapers and neon signs). Now, where did I leave my anorak....
re: mislabelled Yeah, ok mate, I'm not great with remembering cars. I think if it was red and looked fast, I put 'Ferrari' !! If anyone would like to correct any of the many I probably got wrong, let me know which ones, and I'll change them!
Kyoto in Films Another great set of photos! Maybe I've seen too many films, but I half expected Kyoto to look more like "Last Samurai", crossed with "Memoirs of a Geisha" plus a little "Zatoichi". Another dream gone! Perhaps I should have thought "Blade Runner" instead.
Anyway, don't stop posting.
t-shirt If you get down to kamakura pick up a t-shirt for me - mine got worn out and I don't think I'll get back again in the near future - it's a long way from Pill
re: Tokyo Photos Yes, the largest is probably the Imperial Palace complex in it's huge surrounding gardens. I will be paying a visit to that soon, so keep checking back...
Tokyo Photos Adam, your photos are great, give a real feel for the place. It seems overwhelming, so vast, and so dominated by all the huge new towers built in the last twenty years or so. But even less of old Tokyo than I expected, looks bit similar to almost any modern city in world from the air. Although on much bigger scale than most. Is there a picturesque old quarter still remaining intact?
If you forever look down, you'll never see stars Photos look great bud. I am thinking of popping over to Egypt too I reckon at some point so will get some advice from you.
Looks great. How about the pyramids and shit!! WOW is an understatement. Did they let you take a Pyramid home with you?
I am following your trip closely mate and you are making us proud!! Well done.
