Those blossoms are gorgeous! great photos, Lauren. Those cherry blossoms are beautiful. I really wish I'd been able to make it up to Japan. Oh well. I'll be passing through in a few weeks on my way to the States but it's not the same.
Good on you Laura Good on you Laura for touring down under, only a great pity I didn't bump into you myself, think we have a lot in common, besides I could have shown you Melbourne.Lucky you were not in Melboune New Year's eve as it was 47c degrees (celcius that is) any choclate would melt !
You describe things that well that it almost seems I know you even though our paths did not cross, but I am gald you made it and took the time to discover the largest island in the world.
Want to contact me you can email me at wise_one01@hotmail.com
Kind regards
Peter
Around the world in 80 days Great journal entry and photos - well impressed! Your seeing some volume of places - are you not exhausted yet??!
Oh btw, got skype aswell - such a great way to keep in touch for free/cheap calls!
Happy travelling!
Xi'an was cool... Hey there,
Sorry if this is random. But I was in Xi'an last year around this time and my brother, father and I were stuck in the city for 4 days during spring festival. Your pics and story reminded me so much of our trip. I actually stayed in the same hostel as yourself. I just had to laugh when you mentioned that you got stuck in the 'authentic replica government factory'. We were there too, and now when I see a life sized 'replica' of a terra cotta warrior, I just laugh. I hope you got to see the film at the warrior museum in the circular theatre, it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Have fun in Shanghai, you'll have fun at the Bund, and if you can, I recommend staying at the Captains Hostel in the same area.
Cheers,
Neil

Hope you enjoy China!
Andy (Party Boy)
jealousy isnt a word that i should use...but... oh its so not fair! If only i had won the lottery and i would have been in Beijing next week. Your picture's are great Lauren. I will be showing your blog to some of my classmates who are coming over next week.
Have fun!
very cool We are studying China right now in my Comparative Politics course. Very interesting to see your photos and read your journal after the lecture I had today.
Damn you are walkng 30 mins to and from school? Wow you are going to be very fit and thin!
Awesome entry and love the pictures. Maybe I will come out and visit you! ;)
melbourne You definately need to stay in the cities for longer to know. Sydney is nicer for a couple opf weeks and is beautiful on the harbour but is the biggest rat race city in Australia. Melbourne has more to offer for long-term.
GOOD Thank God you made it out of Singapore with no problems. I am scared to visit that region only because of the fear of drugs being snuck in my baggage. That sign in the airport is straight to the point and scary.
Great photos! Can't wait to read more!
I'm off again: this time to the UK to study/work/travel based in London until May, when I'll come back to FINALLY graduate from law school! ... full info
