If, one day, I begin to complain about the distance between my house and class or work, I will just remember these first couple weeks in Paris. Hopefully, that will put it in some perspective. There are so many stairs here! For example, there are twenty-one steps from the street to the first level of Denfert-Rocherau metro station (I know- I counted.). I swipe my card, and then go down thirteen more, then a landing, then twenty more. That's fifty-four steps to get to the metro. I get on, wait ten or so stops, and get off at Nation. Then up fifteen, crutch, down about forty, crutch for five minutes and then down ten more.
