Thursday 5 Jan was spent at sea (Java Sea) and Fri, 6th we sailed into Semarang, Java, Indonesia where they put on a dancing reception for us at the Dock.

Java is very Muslim, very hot and pretty dirty so I didn't bother getting off. Just spent the day by the pool cooling off. The ship allowed all the wives and children on for the Cabin Stewards, etc., so they tended to gawk when they got to the pool deck.

When leaving port we saw loads of trees that had been felled - obviously cutting down their rain forest. Then a storm hit and it was that windy that the local ferry absolutely packed with people, kept getting pushed back to the dock so they had to wait until the storm passed before they could sail.
