Boxing Day was again at sea with storms due to one of the Cyclones off the coast. The nicest thing about rough seas is that you get rocked to sleep at night - we had several nights like that and it became an enjoyable way to go to sleep.

27th December saw us arriving in Cairns at 2.00 p.m. We were overnighting in Cairns but I must say I was disappointed in it. It is basically a largish country town - nothing to write home about and very much a surfy place with lots of pubs and restaurants. As most things were closed for Christmas holidays, it probably looked deader than usual. An American said to me that with the exception of Sydney, Australia is not that interesting - and I have to say I agree with her.
