This trip was totally unplanned affair.Initially when me and hubby had few days of leave from our offices, we thought of visiting the backwaters of Kerala, but unfortunately we didn't get any tickets to go there as it was festival time. So we thought of visiting Coorg as it was near and was in our wishlist. So we booked a package trip for 2 days 1 night stay at Coorg. The travel to Coorg was though bus and we reached there early in morning. It was still dark and we could see the mist around us. Then our agent transferred us to a cottage stay. But drawback in package tours is that you have to wait for everything. You need to wait for other people to come and then they will take to the destination, which is absolute waste of one's time. From next time onwards we plan to travel on our own, so that we can move around in our wish and travel to those places which we are interested in. Ok enough of venting out frustration let me move on.
So we reached the cottage which was 4 km from Madikeri. I must say it was a small
but nice place. Only 5-6 cottages were there and when we got in to ours the path leading to the cottage was b'ful. Everywhere around us was lush green and it was raining on and off. Our sight seeing was to start after lunch hours, so we used the time to take some rest as bus journey was very tiring. After lunch we started for our day trip. It was raining heavily and we were just praying that atleast it should stop till our trip is over. First we went to Tala Cauvery (origin place of Cauveri river). It was a b'ful place, but due to rain was misty everywhere and it was raining heavily now and then. But that added a flavor to the place as I never been in such a scene. Roaming around in rain was kind of romantic too sharing a umbrella. Then we saw the Bhagamandal temple. The trip ended there for the day as the places were far. So we reached at evening in our stay and took rest so that we can enjoy full trip next day.
Next morning we left the stay and kept our luggages in the van, and then
began the long waiting for the agents to collect other people for trip to start. It was kind of irritating. Finally everyone came and we went to Dubarre forest and Cauvery river bank. Its nice place for adventure sport like river rafting. On the other side of the river were elephants and you can get tickets to go that side and feed/bath/ride them. The place didn't appeal us that much as it was too crowded. Then we went to the Nyingmapa Tibet monastery. It was very beautiful and peaceful. Spending some time was really cheered us up. Then on the way we had lunch and went to Nisarga Dhama. There you have to cross a hanging bridge on Cauvery stream and go to other side, where there are bamboo forest and deer park. One spot was there where you can climb down to the bank of stream. It was very picturesque just like I read in novels. But the crowd took away the privacy of the place. Then we roamed around there. Some tree houses are built where you can climb and see view from top. One nice deer park was there.
Then after some time there we started for
Abbey falls. It was the 'must see' place on our list and we were waiting to see it from the day we came. We tried to reach there soon as it was to get dark. When we reached there, we had to walk 1 km till the entrance as vehicles were creating a traffic jam by parking near the entrance. Then there was 15 min walk involved to the water fall. But I must say when I saw it I was spell bound seeing a massive fall from so near. It was really awesome experience and the force with which water was falling down, water droplets were flying by making the onlookers wet. There is a bridge just in front of the fall some meters apart. When you cross the bridge and stand there for 2 mins you get wet from the water spraying on you. But it was experience to have for sure. Then finally after spending our heart's content time there we came to Madikeri and went to Raja's seat. Some light and sound show was going on of water fountains. But it was too much crowded and we wanted to come out asap. Then we did some
shopping of Coffee at local shop there and boarded the bus to come back home. Thats the end of our short trip.
