The Mekong River
We are now in Laos, Laos has a population of 5,662,000 and borders Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, China and Cambodia. The capital is Vientiane, Laos people are said to be among the most laid backinthe world.
The currency here is the Kip.
We have just spent 3 nights in Si Phan Don (southern Laos) which is called 4000 islands and funnily enough is made up of around 4000 islands in the Mekong river some of which disappear completely during the wet season. The island we stayed on was called Don Det and it was beautiful so relaxing, we have swam loads of times in the Mekong which is lovely and clean, we saw Irwaddy dolphins, which are very rare only 100 remaining in the Mekong. This was very special to watch.
