Twas the 5th of September 2002,
3 girls at Heathrow joined the check-in queue,
about to experience the year of their life,
they skipped through the gate, spirits were rife.
First stop Bangkok, capital of Thai,
busy and dirty, smoggy and dry,
Koh San Road was the place to be,
bartering for tuk tuks around the city.
They travelled up north for an elephant trek,
holding on tight to its leathery neck,
then to the south, beaches galore,
wishing their time in Thailand was more.
Massages, snorkelling and hiring a jeep,
they could do anything the place was so cheap,
they sampled the culinary delights of the land,
but always thankful a MacDonalds was at hand.
The full moon party was on the 21st,
all attempts to stay for it had been cursed,
having to leave Koh Pha-Nang,
a bus full of Thais called them 'philang'.
They caught a plane to Singapore,
smuggling gum they were breaking the law,
to the Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling,
monkey nut shells on the floor, they did fling.
On Sentosa Island, at the dolphin display,
Denise was chosen to come and play,
Alas only a short visit
Bantai Beach
Koh Pha-Nang it was,
they had to move on to the land of Oz.
