The last 80 kilometers in Laos were quite hard so it's a tired Francois that arrived at the border crossing.
Officers were surprised to see someone on a bicycle and they were quite curious. At some point, one of them even asked me quite formally to step a few meters away from my bike. I started to wonder what it was all about when in fact he jumped on it and did a few meters just to try it 😊
Another officer asked me $1 for stamping the visa. It's not legal but there was no point to get into trouble for so little. There was a small office where I was able to change my Laos money into Vietnamese Dongs. In less than 20 minutes I was on the other side...
... and then it was just great: 18km of crazy downhill ! oh yeaah ! I even overtake a bus and a truck, they had no chance :p Well that's until they caught up with me a few km later, on the flat.
Vietnamese people in the countryside were very friendly, if a little shy sometimes. But I was greeted by most people I met
on the road. Hello, Hello, Hello, everybody is smiling, I just love it.
