Hi readers

Running a bit behind with the blogs this week so trying to catch up. So this is for Thursday (yesterday which was the 12th Oct).

We started the morning with half our group electing for a bike ride through the village Tra Que, through gardens and country side. Rather a long way around as it took them 1.25hours to arrive at 9.45am just before the rest of us arrived via taxi cab. There was quite a bit of thunder and rain around and Bryan who decided he could do that but hadn’t been on a bike in 30 yrs, did very well and was soaked. We had a drink together then had a talk about what we would be helping do before we changed into our “work clothes” and followed our trusty leader up through the gardens to an area they use for teaching/ demonstrating in. Some pics of the events that followed have already been posted on fb. We learnt the traditional way of preparing the soil and planting. Then when we had all had a go of how it was we went back to the under covered area to change and sit with our feet

He still has the hat on but soon to go for the helmut
in a bucket and lemon herb hot water was put in to soak our feet in. Some had a foot massage as well but no one was touching my feet ha ha.

After this was finished we were then going to learn some traditional cooking technique. This was fun and a few challenges. We then sat and ate what we cooked and the staff brought out another 4 dishes. That made it a 5 course lunch finishing eating about 2pm.

We took the taxis back to the resort and waited for the riders to come back via the direct route this time taking approximately 20mins.

After half an hour we all regrouped and walked down to the water to cross over and visit the Ancient Quarter again to hear about the Chua Ong Pagoda, the Ancient houses which we toured inside one 200 year old Tam Ky house, Assembly Halls of the Chinese, Japanese covered bridge and then left to wander more craft markets and pick where we would like to eat before returning ourselves back to the resort.

Another busy enjoyable fun day. Definitely needed sleep.

Jo and Bryan
