Well, we've made it to the second leg of our journey, glorious Ho Chi Min city!! It is absolutely awesome. Fantastic food, people, sights, weather(34 degress today!!) and culture.... We are staying at the ME THEM hotel in district 1, and we could hardly contaion our excitement when we checked in!!! Compared to the basic hostel in KL, this place is practically a palace!!! It is ensuite, with great air con, a great biug double bed.....it's the only bed they do before you guys starting jumping to conclusions!!!! And best of all it has a mini bar!!! So far, we have not stopped in Ho Chi Min...yesterday, we went to the local market, Ben Tanh, which was amazing, lots of local produce, especially seafood!! Also we visited the War Remnants Museum, which was a very humbling experience... lots of photographic evidence of the horrors that the vietnamese people suffered at the hands of the Americans during the war. The most disturbing were the photos of the men women and children who suffered as a result of the use of Agent Orange - a chemical used to destroy all crops etc, but the side effect was debilitaing and sometimes fatal illness for
people in the area. Also the children born to these people often suffered horrific physical deformities.....made me ashamed to be a westerner..... On a lighter note, I have developed an obsession with seafood noodle soup, and today is the first time I haven't had any! We went to visit the Cu Chi tunnels today, which were amazing, they were used by the Viet Cong during the war to evade detection by the American Army. The photos should explain more!!! Hope everyone is ok, speak soon, don x x
