Saigon, Vietnam

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City ( Saigon ) on January 17 in the Evening. Stayed at a wonderful hotel called Majestic Hotel in a very good central location on the riverfront in Saigon. This is a hotel built in the mid 1920's and has been completely redone to modern standards but retains the kind of understated elegance of the old colonial style.

January 18. We spent a busy day walking to places of interest in Saigon. The large shopping market, War and History Museum and Cathedral. This is a very nice city. Quite frankly not what we expected. Saigon is the industrial capital and is a very big and quite modern city, relatively clean and we felt safe in all of the parts we visited.
