Just for a few months of one’s life, is it so awful to travel through time with no greater ambition than to find the next lovely meal? Or to learn how to speak a language for no higher purpose than it pleases your ear to hear it? Or to nap in a garden, in a patch of sunlight, in the middle of the day, right next to your favorite fountain? And then to do it again the next day?
- Elizabeth Gilbert, “Eat, Pray, Love”

We left Hoi An last night by overnight train. Hoi An has foods that are only made there. One specialty called white rose, is a dumpling made with cassava we had it three times almost every meal we ate there. I need to find a cookbook! we havent had one bad meal here.

Hoi An was once a trading port and the markets are still full of fresh fish and vegtables in a rainbow of colors. We took a walking tour of the temples and ancient houses and visited another covered bridge with a temple inside.

This is the town for having clothes & shoes made. I had a Vietamese silk dress , a top and cotton shorts made Almost forgot... shoes too. My bag is now full. On the way out we stopped at the famous China Beach where US soldiers spent their R & R.

We are now in Na Trang and spent the morning swimming & snorkeling in the South China Sea . The water was blue and the coral was colorful. We had a fresh seafood lunch prepared for us on board and there were three ladies on hand for massages & manicures & pedicures. Everyone had something done, even the guide!

We will travel once again by overnight train to Saigon.

The largest city in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh (also known to tourists as Saigon) is home to monks, artists and musicians. The mixture of styles in the city is astounding. Known as the Paris of Asia, the city features wide walkways lined with trees and French villas. -realtravel.com
