10 October 2014 - Today we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day. On 9 October 1954 the French troops left Hanoi and the war against the French was going to an end. Next day the Vietnamese soldiers came into Hanoi from different directions and they were happily greeted by the Hanoians. Congratulations
I remember learning about that victory in my French class at high school (although I suppose they thought it was a defeat but it always seemed right to me). It's great to see photos of that day and hear about someone who was there. Was your mother from Hanoi? You made Hanoi seem so exciting for the celebrations, i wished I was there.
