Edit Blog Post
Hi there guys,
well this time i am defo going to try and post some photos on this blog page, but it is turing out to be very complicated and messy, and as i have to be up at 5am to get a flight to BKK to meet Ms Sara Hughes, it might just not happen. I am finishing my my time in Vietnam in lovely Hanoi, i have had a great month here and the only thing i wish is that it could have been for longer. The city is great really easy to walk around, cool lake, Mueums about Viet women, tacky markets, horrible Chinies embassies, beer stand that sell the local beer for 15p a glass. ( not all that bad ).
I made it up the coast stopping in Hoi An and met up with a Yorkshire girl called Sophie who had been working as an English teacher in Siagon ( heck thats what the locals call it !!! ) i have to say that i could not understand what she said half the time, as her accent was so thick!!! then when her mate also from York joined us, it was impossible, i just
nodded and kind of followed what was being said. I got a coat made in the Tailor town, godness knows when i will next ware it, as i am going to have summer for the next 8+ months, but it is deadly!!! The beach was awsome, i hired a bike and took off there on my own, had to keep my wits about me on the rds, but all was well and i had the beach all to myself. No other tourists there and no one hasseling to buy things which was the best bit.
One day Sophie and i were having lunch in a local cafe when a fight between some of the workers broke out, i grabed my bag and felt a little bit uneasy when one of the men ran into the Kitchen and came out with huge meat cleaver and went for the other guy, at this point others were getting involved and i was pushing Sophie out the door and running down the rd...mental. She had forgotten her shoes and bag so we ventured back after a wee bit, and all was ok, the woman who ran the cafe said that it was an
silly argument between her 2 brothers, and it was nothing to worry about???!!! Silly atempted murder.
I left the town one my clothes were made and made it up to Hue where the DMZ, tombs and dragon boats reside. I met up with the nice Americans ( Kristin and Eliza )i had met in Na trang and Hoi An, in a great bar, hung out with swiss and dutch guys who i understood a hell of a lot more then the people from Yorkshire!!! Met a guy who works for the BBC as a director on Crimewatch, who lives in ealing...Sweet.
A 15 hour night bus from there also ruined me, but Hanoi is great and i manged to meet up with Americans again, and we did a 3 day boat trip out to Ha Long, we included sleeping one night on a cool boat, pretending that we were piretes, sea Kayaking about the Bay which was awsome, some cool caves with funky celings and 70's lighting styles...one night on cat ba island, where the beaches were ok, though again nothing compared to Thailand, the water was merky...i am really spoilt. But we had a nice night drinking
man in the fox hole
only for the small and the brave with the locals and seeing the local kids dancing in their full moon childrens festival, it happens only once a year so we were really lucky to see them all dressed up, some of them looked ready for Halloween, random.
The next moring we were up early and traveling back to our Pirete boat, all was ok, i bumped into some guys i had met in cambodia, it really is a small place the indo-china loop. Got on the boat and fell ill. And i mean really ill. I felt sick in my stomach, like i had a feaver and then i went into Anopholatic shock. My throat swelled up so much that i couldn't talk, breathing became hard, really hard and i startedfreaking out. Luckly there were 2 doctors on my boat, a vet and 2 medical students so i was in good hands. This was all at sea, but they got my to the mainland, to a good hospital and into the forigne room, aquiped with 2 double beds, tv, ac and my own bathroom...nice. They hooked me up to an iv, gave me some oxygen which was lush and an antihistmin, so after a bit my
breathing returned and i could talk again which was good as i couldn't tell them anything...they check my blood which was ok, hemoglobia was a bit low and did an ECG with a machine, that the dutch doctor who came with me said should be in a museum...all was ok
Thedutch doctor from the boat came with me and was great and our guide did all the translating. I left heaps better and checked out asap, paid them the $110 USD which i think is pretty good. In the Uk i never would have been seen that fast. I am on some cool drugs which open my check all out, they are illegal in the Olympics, so there goes my chance to rep team GB in China next year!!! I can drink on them which is all the coolers.
Hung out with the American in Hanoi and had some cool nights out, seen a great city which i will miss heaps, they have gone to sapa and then to China, i am going to try and meet them there, but first i must meet up with Ms Sara H in BKK, Bangkok Forever!!!!
Love you all Kisses
