HALONG BAY - 20/03/07 to 21/03/07

Halong Bay is a world heritage listed area and consists of 1969 limestone peaks surrounding the bay. We were sceptical about going since we were warned by other tourists that this was not the best time of year to vist, due to heavy mist and fog. After arriving we were surprised to find the weather had cleared, although it was still quite cold.

We toured around the bay on a fabulous boat staying onboard for one night with 12 other guests. We went swimming, kyaking and walking through caves, similar to those in the Blue Mountains. We met two Canadian girls who were such a laugh to hang out with. We bought Vietnamese red wine from a lady on a dingy and proceeded to get a tipsy at dinner. Vietnamese wine leaves a lot to be desired. Not exactly fabulous...but drinkable when you're hanging for a glass!

After returning to Hanoi, we caught the night train down the coast to Hue, where we are staying for the morning, and then taking the bus down to Hoi An for 2 nights. It's here where we will most probably get some clothes made

We stayed on one of the boats in this picture. Interior was in traditional decor and absolutely beautiful.
as it is well known for its incredible tailors.

More adventure of Jules and Sar in Vietnam coming soon.
