Ho Chi Minh airport Vietnam
Sitting in the lower waiting area at cafe. Glad those large planes have good breaks as they are coming in to stop in front of the large windows. That nose coming straight at you at any speed would be disconcerting Hi readers,
I write this as I try to relax after a day of travels and hours in airports. This morning after breakfast Bryan and I had to go out to collect our washing ready to pack our cases. We have done this in each city. In Siem Reap straight in front of the hotel was a laundry where a lady takes your washing for $1USD per KG to wash, dry, iron and fold. It was a great service as the hotel has to charge $2 approx per item. So we did all we could as we were going through about 2 sets of clothes a day. When we found out our tuk tuk driver could take us around to a laundry in Phnom Penh we thought that would be great before we leave to have everything done again and Pauline and Sheryl needed some done too. Things we found a little different, as maybe it’s the size of the city but definitely not as cheap. Pauline and I took the clothes in on thursday morning ready to collect fri at 10. Plenty of time. Bryan & I went around there today (fri) but the young boy was still folding

So many sitting around waiting. them so out came 2 chairs and we were told to sit please. I watched this young boy fold up everything using a piece if cardboard. For our $1 this time we didn’t get them ironed that would have been $3 per kg. Oh well we decided Bryan could wear the crinkled look around Vietnam and the humidity will help iron out ha ha.
Bags packed we had a mini van take us to the airport which through the heavy traffic and bad roads took just over 3/4 hr. On arrival at the International airport we spent the longest wait ever in line to get checked in that by the time we finished down stairs we still had security to go through and find our gate. Not long to wait at all by the time we were boarding. That ended up being the quickest part of the day from the gate to boarding. good bye Cambodia off to Vietnam for the next adventure.
On arrival in Ho Chi Minh airport the ticket we had was useless as the airline was wrong and the time. We walked from the International airport along the pathway into the domestic which was

Our beautiful room and a bed that’s larger than a king size? What is that? ok but the humidity hit us then walked backwards and forwards in and out of areas to find out from information guy that our ticket was ”no good. That airline doesn’t operate here you need to go back the way you came and ask at the nxt door office if they can help”. So back we went and the lovely helpful lady said that the ticket was printed wrong and the only way she found out who we were flying with was by scanning my passport and see who it came up with. Ok go for it. At least when it flagged up this is the airline we were going with. It was the same as Jetstar to Qantas but in Vietnam Airways.but then she said that flight time isn’t right either as we were now on another time waiting another 5 hours. We had left the hotel at 11.30 this morning and were starting to get hungry so all we wanted to do was unload these cases somewhere so we could go and find food. Thankfully even though we had such a long wait they still allowed the luggage to be checked in so I was hoping it found

Our room with the ensuite glass walls on 2 sides with Venetian blinds on the outside of the glass in the bedroom us ok the other side. So settled in we headed up stairs through security that was so quick and efficient then off to find where we had to be for the next few hours. Over 2 levels there are cafes and shops everywhere so we wandered and ate little bits.
The eating was a challenge at the airport as nothing much either Sheryl or I could eat due to dietary restrictions and the Celiac is just not in asia. We had to really look around for little bits to nibble like Sheryl found chocolate that she could enjoy and we found the rice snacks I ate a lot of in Thailand years ago so we both got some of those to take with us. I still haven’t started my chocolate but I’m sure I will soon ?.
After the longest wait then delayed on top of that I sent a txt msg to the tour co ordinator so they knew when to expect to collect us and we finally boarded. It was a 2 hour flight and we arrived at 11.45pm. A quick and easy exit off the plane saw us in through securit, and customs and collected

Opposite end of the room. Love the chair, so comfortable. We are here only 2 nights our bags then found our driver waiting for us. What a relief that was. The airport was busy as many many flights coming in around this time of night. A lovely large van collected us and we took off silently watching the nigt lights of a new city. After a short time it became clear Vietnam was not going to be the same as Cambodia. We were quietly driving along a smooth 3 lane highway with not a pot hole in sight compared to the chaos of the highway to the airport in Cambodia. This was nice as we had got used to riding hanging on ha ha ha. Arrival at our airport was another very pleasant surprise as the accommodation we had no idea about as we booked it as pre tour with On the Go tours and didn’t have any knowledge about. We walked into the foyer and there was a beautiful crystal chandelier. Yes this was definitely going to be a bit higher level than the hotels in Cambodia yet I had booked all 3-4 star but the difference is huge. Now to relax and sleep. We have a free day Saturday until we join the meet and greet team late afternoon.
Night.
