Vietnam. It conjures up images of war and poverty. But we discovered that beyond that, lies scenic beauty and a forgiving people who want to improve their lot in life through friendly tourism and aggresive business enticement. 2 nights in Hanoi and 3 days on a junk boat were the backbone of our post-Christmas get away this year. Inside this lovely grotto, the jungle walls rose high around us, occasional tropical bird sounds resonated, and we all enjoyed resting and absorbing the scenery.
And so it continues....And so it continues....
And so it continues....

If you look closely to the right of the kayak, you can see the jumping mud fish that at random times burst effervescently above the water while we kayaked.

Exiting the kayak and wading to the shore, the rocky shoreline almost looks fake and sculpted by some Disney imagineer.

Kirsten and our guide both shared a love of music, which meant we were often serenaded with happy songs as we paddled along.

Jessie poses high atop a rock for that perfect "island model" shot. But, her meddlesome dad, tossing up a towel from behind the rock, does his best to keep this pose "family friendly".
