Vietnam. It conjures up images of war and poverty. In 2006, our family began what we thought was a 3 year adventure of living and traveling in China. But like Gilligan, our 3 year tour turned into something much longer and deeper than we expected. This was just the beginning of our cultural travels and blogs. 3 years turned into 6 years and included a time of residence in South Korea as well. Grotto

Inside this lovely grotto, the jungle walls rose high around us, occasional tropical bird sounds resonated, and we all enjoyed resting and absorbing the scenery.

And so it continues....

If you look closely to the right of the kayak, you can see the jumping mud fish that at random times burst effervescently above the water while we kayaked.

Exiting the kayak and wading to the shore, the rocky shoreline almost looks fake and sculpted by some Disney imagineer.

These two have shared so many adventures together during our time in Asia.

Partners in music

Kirsten and our guide both shared a love of music, which meant we were often serenaded with happy songs as we paddled along.

Shore excursion

Before heading back to our private boat for lunch, we enjoy a bit of quiet time on a little stretch of sand.

Jessie poses high atop a rock for that perfect "island model" shot. But, her meddlesome dad, tossing up a towel from behind the rock, does his best to keep this pose "family friendly".
