i was chatting with a woman when she was attempting to say rice. this proved more difficult than one could imagine (and it happened again today). i simply could not understand her. then she said it in vietnamese and to my amazement i knew what she was saying. i had seen the word numerous times at little eateries and suddenly it all made sense! that was a great feeling!

as they say in vietnam, cong co chi. 'no problem', for those without the language skills displayed by moi. actually, it is more like 'no worries' but it sounded better my way. so sorry, please excuse my horn tootin'.
